Trinh Thu Vinh - a star of Vietnamese sports at the 2024 Paris Olympics - will compete on December 14th at the 33rd SEA Games.
Specifically, she will compete in her specialty event, the 10m air pistol. It's worth noting that this is the event that earned Thu Vinh her ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics, where she finished 5th at the 2023 World Championships (in this event).
One year later, Thu Vinh won the gold medal in the 10m air pistol event at the 2024 Asian Championships.
Despite her outstanding performance, the female shooter from Thanh Hoa province has never won a SEA Games gold medal, even though she has participated in the regional sporting event twice.
At the 31st SEA Games, she only won a bronze medal in the individual 10m air pistol event and a silver medal in the team event.
Therefore, Trinh Thu Vinh will be very determined at this SEA Games. The same high level of determination comes from the beautiful female archer Do Thi Anh Nguyet, after missing out on the SEA Games two years ago.
At the 2019 SEA Games, Anh Nguyet won a gold medal in the recurve bow event, and this has remained her strong event in many subsequent competitions. At the 2023 SEA Games, host country Cambodia removed archery from the competition list, depriving Anh Nguyet of the opportunity to improve her record.
Besides archery and shooting, swimming and athletics continue to be the focus of the competition day on December 14th. The speed races of athletics will temporarily give way to the marathon and the 20km walk – two events that symbolize endurance.
Swimming will enter its penultimate day of competition, with many events in which the Vietnamese team aims to win gold medals, such as the 200m breaststroke and the men's 4x100m freestyle relay…
