People of Hang Phu Loa village are looking forward to the national grid.

Perched precariously on a mountainside and more than 10 km from the center of Mu Cang Chai commune, 80 households in Hang Phu Loa village yearn for electricity to light up, change their lives, access knowledge and open up opportunities for socio-economic development.

The road from the commune center to Hang Phu Loa village is more than 10 km long. Although it has been concreted, it is quite steep, so going to the village is difficult and time-consuming. In the cold weather typical of the highlands, night falls very quickly, making the already difficult life even darker.

When the sun gradually disappeared, darkness covered the house and everything, it was also the time for Mr. Giang Bua Mang to light the lamp to prepare for dinner. To have the lamp on long enough for dinner, Mr. Mang had to calculate the right time to light the lamp.

I have lived more than half my life but I have not seen the national grid electricity in the village. My family wishes to have electricity to buy grass choppers, rice mills and other electrical equipment for daily life.

I really hope the Party and State will invest in bringing electricity to the people of Hang Phu Loa to make their life easier.

Mr. Giang Bua Mang confided

There is no national grid, which means that modern appliances such as rice cookers, refrigerators, and televisions are also unfamiliar to the people of Hang Phu Loa. Most of the villagers use light from oil lamps and stoves, only a few households with favorable conditions for water sources are lucky enough to use water generators.

However, the electricity from the water generator is very weak and can only be used from September to December, and after that, water must be prioritized for production. A few well-off households use electricity from self-purchased solar panels, but the capacity is low, the efficiency is unstable, and on long rainy days it is almost impossible to use.

Oil lamps are still used by many households in the village for lighting every night.

Mr. Giang Chao Ho is 86 years old this year, and is one of the pioneers in using water generators in Hang Phu Loa.

With the hope that the electricity and water source would change the spiritual life of his family, Mr. Ho invested in buying a TV, DVD player, and speakers for use. However, due to the unstable power source, in a short time, those devices all broke down. The electricity and water source now is only enough for lighting, charging phones, and some battery-powered devices for neighbors.

Due to the lack of electricity, many essential activities are limited; students do not have electricity to study at night; shops in the village have to invest in buying water generators and solar panels to serve customers.

In the poor highland of Hang Phu Loa, the people's desire for electricity is always burning. Because, with just a light bulb, children can study every night; having a milling machine will help women have less trouble in preparing food for the family; farmers will also have less trouble when they have electric agricultural machines to support the labor process; with electricity, people can access timely information via television and the internet to improve their knowledge...

Mr. Giang Chao Ho added: Every night, when I go to the village entrance and look down at the commune center, I see that the households there have electricity, I really crave it. Without electricity, people here have to choose the traditional way of drying and salting food, or buy and eat as much as they can, if they miss a meal, they have no food reserves to use.

The people of Hang Phu Loa are looking forward to having electricity. When there is a stable power source, people will buy appliances for daily life, have the opportunity to access knowledge, apply scientific advances in production, thereby improving the quality of life.

To have electricity to serve customers, stores in Hang Phu Loa have to invest in buying water and solar generators.

The Party Secretary of Hang Phu Loa village added: The villagers have made many written petitions and directly expressed their opinions at voter meetings on this issue; the Party Committee and government of Mu Cang Chai district (now Mu Cang Chai commune) have organized many meetings to find solutions so that the villagers can soon use the national grid.

Mu Cang Chai Commune is very concerned about the national grid issue of Hang Phu Loa village. During the dialogue sessions with the people, the problems related to land clearance and protective forests have been basically resolved by the relevant parties. The Commune hopes that the relevant agencies will soon arrange capital to invest in bringing electricity to Hang Phu Loa.

Wood stoves are also a source of light at night for the people of Hang Phu Loa.

Bringing the national grid to Hang Phu Loa not only improves people's lives, but also creates a driving force for economic development, attracting investment programs and projects to the area. Electricity will help change thinking and working methods, open up production directions, and promote sustainable poverty reduction.
