At the experience area, more than 600 residents and students were directly instructed by the Fire Prevention and Fighting Police officers and soldiers on many skills on using fire extinguishers, practicing cardiopulmonary resuscitation, escaping in a smoke maze model, or using a slow-lowering rope to escape from high floors.
The activity also applies new technology such as electronic fire extinguishers, virtual reality or fire truck driving simulation, helping participants both learn and experience intuitively and vividly.
“Today I also tried it out. I realized that when escaping from a high place, when there is too much smoke, you have to stay calm, crouch down, use your hands to feel the way and then slowly escape. If you are too nervous, you will not be able to escape.”
“Through this session, everyone will have more knowledge as well as a very good experience to be able to respond when a fire occurs. Personally, I find the experience very good, very meaningful and practical. For example, I am over 60 years old but I can comfortably carry a fire extinguisher because I am no longer afraid.”
“Through these experiences, people and businesses will know how to prepare fire prevention equipment and how to handle and escape when an incident occurs.”
Mr. Phat said this is a practical way for people to proactively prevent fires, minimize risks and protect their lives, their families and their businesses.
Also on the same day, nearly 1,000 officials, civil servants and residents in Saigon ward continued to be trained and practiced in fire prevention, fire fighting and rescue skills.
Through practical training sessions like this, each citizen will be an on-site "firefighter", contributing to minimizing risks and damage caused by fire.
