Brazilian model Lygia Fazio dies after undergoing buttock augmentation surgery.
International media reports indicate that renowned Brazilian model Lygia Fazio recently passed away at the age of 40 due to complications following cosmetic surgery. According to the reports, Lygia Fazio had industrial silicone and PMMA injected into her buttocks three years ago at an unlicensed beauty clinic. After the procedure, these substances spread throughout her body, causing infection and requiring hospitalization.
Although the model tried to eliminate all of these substances from her body, it wasn't completely effective. She was hospitalized for three weeks before she passed away.
This isn't the first time she's been hospitalized for post-operative complications. In 2022, she spent 100 days in the hospital to have silicone removed from her body.
She had silicone removed from her body multiple times but still couldn't make it.
In a previous interview, the Brazilian model revealed: "Since becoming a model, everyone wants to have a fuller derrière. And what happened was, I looked in the mirror, I had a small backside and I wanted to improve it."
However, her boyfriend at the time was unhappy with the results and asked her to undergo further procedures to achieve the most perfect buttocks. As a result, Lygia Fazio paid the price for her lack of foresight regarding cosmetic procedures.
Polymethylmethacrylate, or PMMA (a transparent, flexible plastic), was the cause of Lygia Fazio's death. This substance requires specialized treatment and should only be used in small doses. The model's family announced her passing but also requested that people refrain from over-analyzing the cause of her death.
