Early morning of November 28, in the chilly weather of Ho Chi Minh City, retired teacher Nguyen Thi Kim Thanh, 73 years old, residing in Binh Thanh ward, came to Tuoi Tre newspaper to contribute 3 million VND to the people in the flood-affected areas.

The money she brought to contribute today was saved from teaching and from money given by her children, grandchildren, and friends for her old age.

"I keep all the money that people give me and donate it to others. When people give it to me, I don't need it yet so I share it with the people of Central Vietnam," she shared.

She added that this was the third time she had contributed to Tuoi Tre newspaper. She said: "I always make all my contributions to Tuoi Tre newspaper because I really trust in its reputation."

She only left her name Mai, 76 years old, living in Duc Nhuan ward, to Tuoi Tre newspaper to contribute 2 million VND on behalf of her granddaughter Nguyen Duy Huyen Tran, 22 years old, because her granddaughter was busy working and could not come.

"I walk from home, and when I get tired, I take a motorbike taxi. It doesn't cost much," she said.

When seeing the images of people in the Central region struggling with floods, Ms. Ha Ngoc Dung, 68 years old, living in Cau Kieu ward, brought 3 million VND to the Tuoi Tre newspaper office to support.

Ms. Dung said she was the one who initiated the donation in the family. When she learned that her daughter was donating, her mother, 87-year-old Ha Ngoc Xuong, sent an additional 5 million VND to Tuoi Tre newspaper for her to contribute.

Ms. Dung said that the money she contributed was taken from her daily expenses. "I read the newspaper these past few days and saw that people's situation is so miserable, I'll contribute whatever I can, just hoping that everyone will soon overcome the difficulties" - she confided.

"It's okay if I eat a little less" - Mr. Le Huu Duc, 58 years old, in Binh Loi Trung ward, shared when bringing money to Tuoi Tre newspaper to contribute to the people of the Central region who are suffering damage due to storms and floods.

Mr. Duc shared that a few days ago he supported and contributed clothes, milk, and instant noodles at the Labor Culture Palace, and now he continued to come to Tuoi Tre newspaper to contribute 2 million VND to the people of Central Vietnam.

He said this was the money he and his wife had saved for a long time from selling groceries, and each day they collected a little and donated it.

Having accompanied the programs and funds launched by Tuoi Tre newspaper for many years, he has great trust and always considers this a destination to contribute to people whenever needed.

"The water has receded now, so I hope that with my little heart I can help people rebuild and rebuild their lives," he said.

"Because I'm also busy with many things, now that I have time, I'm taking the opportunity to stop by the editorial office to contribute. Seeing that Tuoi Tre newspaper is calling for donations, I'm supporting it," he shared.

He said that he usually supports Tuoi Tre newspaper’s programs and funds 3-4 times a year. However, this time was an unexpected one because he saw the difficult situation of the people in the Central region and knew that Tuoi Tre newspaper was calling for donations, so he also joined in contributing.
