Affirming the depth of the special Vietnam - Laos relationship

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the National Day of the Lao People's Democratic Republic (December 2, 1975 - December 2, 2025), Vietnamese representative agencies in France and Austria organized many exchange and congratulatory activities for the Lao side, thereby reaffirming the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.

According to VNA correspondents in Europe, on November 28, the Vietnamese Embassy and the Lao Embassy in France held a meeting on the occasion of Laos National Day. Vietnamese Ambassador Dinh Toan Thang and Lao Ambassador Kalamoungkhoune Souphanouvong both delivered profound speeches, emphasizing the historical value and strategic depth of bilateral relations.

Ambassador Dinh Toan Thang said that 2025 has a special significance as the two countries prepare for the Party Congress and build a new development strategy in the context of many international changes. He stated that the two countries maintain close political dialogue, regularly exchange high-level delegations and promote cooperation projects - important pillars of bilateral relations. The two sides always share stances on regional and international issues, from the process of building the ASEAN Community to handling security and development challenges.

Ambassador Dinh Toan Thang thanked the Lao Embassy for its cooperation during his term of office and believed that his successor would continue to foster this good traditional relationship.

For his part, Lao Ambassador Kalamoungkhoune Souphanouvong responded with an emotional speech, emphasizing that the Vietnam-Laos relationship is a “brotherhood”, forged in a history of common struggle and developed into a special political trust. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of National Day, he considered this a time to review history and pay tribute to previous generations.

The Ambassador also announced that Laos will be honored to welcome General Secretary To Lam and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to the commemoration ceremony in Vientiane - a strong symbol of the close bond between the two countries. He expressed his gratitude for Vietnam's support in Paris, and deeply sympathized with the damage caused by natural disasters in Vietnam in recent times, and believed that the Vietnamese people will soon overcome difficulties.

Previously, on November 27, in Vienna, a delegation from the Vietnamese Embassy in Austria led by Ambassador Vu Le Thai Hoang visited and congratulated the Lao Embassy on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Laos' National Day and the 105th birthday of President Kaysone Phomvihane.

At the meeting, Ambassador Vu Le Thai Hoang sent his warm congratulations to the Lao government and people, highly appreciating the role of President Kaysone - the one who laid the foundation for the special solidarity relationship between Vietnam and Laos. He emphasized that this year's commemorative activities in Laos were in harmony with the atmosphere of Vietnam celebrating many major historical milestones, demonstrating the similarities in the journey of developing and nurturing the relationship between the two countries.

For his part, Lao Ambassador to Austria Khampheng Douangthongla thanked Vietnam for its support during both the liberation struggle and the current period of national construction, affirming that the Laos-Vietnam relationship is a "priceless asset" that needs to be preserved and developed through generations.

The two ambassadors also agreed to continue to strengthen close coordination at international forums and the United Nations in Vienna, contributing to peace , stability and development in the region and the world.
