Khuoi Gia Vay Van Hoa hamlet chief and his family's star anise garden
In 2022, he was elected as the Village Chief. In 2023, he became a prestigious person in the community. Mr. Hoa always affirmed his role as a "pioneer" in all work, promoting the spirit of "practice and words", actively mobilizing people to develop the economy and reduce poverty.
Based on local practice, since 2011, Mr. Hoa has boldly planted star anise and mulberry trees to raise silkworms on forest land. With a long-term vision, he realized that these two types of trees are suitable for the local climate and soil, both stabilizing the economy and increasing income. By 2024, his family will have planted over 10,000 star anise trees and 15,000 mulberry trees, earning about 600 liters of star anise essential oil worth 200 million VND, selling silkworm cocoons for 380 million VND; combined with raising pigs, chickens... increasing the total income to 500 - 600 million VND per year.
Not only stopping at enriching himself, Mr. Hoa also organized neighborhood meetings, propagandized, guided people to improve the land, borrowed capital to implement the model of growing star anise and raising silkworms. Thanks to that, up to now, the whole neighborhood has 90 households growing 245 hectares of star anise and more than 85.5 hectares of mulberry trees, bringing in an income of over 6 billion VND per year for the whole neighborhood, on average each household earns more than 90 million VND, poor households alone earn nearly 30 million VND per year, contributing to reducing the number of poor households by 6%.
In addition, Mr. Hoa is also an exemplary cadre in building a cultural life in the residential area. He actively encourages people to comply with the Party's policies and the State's laws, protect the legitimate rights of the people, and prevent violations of village rules and regulations. Thanks to that, each year, more than 80% of households achieve the title of "Cultural Family".
In 2024, as a leader, he mobilized people to contribute labor and effort to build 250 m of rural concrete road, contributing over 200 working days and more than 20 million VND to buy materials. Faced with the situation that the hamlet did not have low-voltage power lines, he called on people to donate about 90 million VND to bring electricity to their homes, helping 100% of households have electricity for daily use. He also pioneered in mobilizing people to move barns away from their homes, build hygienic toilets, and carry out movements such as: "Day for the Poor", "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods"...
The silent but meaningful contributions of Mr. Vay Van Hoa have helped make Khuoi Giao hamlet a bright spot in the new rural construction movement, achieving the title of "Cultural Hamlet" and a clean and strong Party cell for many years. He himself was honored to receive a Certificate of Merit from the Provincial People's Committee, along with many certificates of merit from the district and commune.
Mr. Vay Van Hoa - the one who lights the fire of hope, the one who inspires the whole community to develop together, deserves to be a shining example in the mountains and forests of his homeland./.
