Former Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung and former Minister and Head of the Government Office Mai Tien Dung were reprimanded by the Politburo.
At the meeting on the morning of January 27, the Secretariat warned the Party Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Trade for the 2016-2021 term and reprimanded the Party Committee of the Ministry for the 2021-2026 term. Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai and former Deputy Minister Hoang Quoc Vuong were expelled from the Party.
According to the Politburo , the Secretariat, and the Party Executive Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Trade for the 2016-2021 term seriously violated the principle of democratic centralism, Party regulations, State laws, and working regulations; lacked responsibility, and slackened leadership and direction.
As a result, many violations and shortcomings have caused serious and difficult-to-correct consequences; there is a risk of huge losses of money and property of the state, investors, consumers, and waste of social resources. A number of criminal cases have occurred at the Ministry, many officials have violated the law, been subject to criminal prosecution, party discipline, and administrative sanctions, causing resentment among officials, party members, and the people, negatively affecting the reputation of the party organization and state management agencies.
The Party Executive Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Trade for the 2021-2026 term was determined to have violated the principle of democratic centralism, Party regulations, and State laws; failed to implement instructions and decisions of competent authorities; lacked responsibility, and slackened leadership and direction, leading to many violations and shortcomings.
The Party Executive Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Trade in this term also issued and implemented Working Regulations in violation of the Politburo's regulations; issued Resolutions of the Party Executive Committee in violation of Working Regulations; did not seriously implement the instructions of the Politburo and the Prime Minister; allowed a criminal case to occur at the Ministry, many officials and Party members violated the law, including members of the Party Executive Committee and Deputy Ministers who were prosecuted and temporarily detained.
Mr. Trinh Dinh Dung, when holding the positions of member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Party Committee of the Government, Deputy Prime Minister for the 2016-2021 term, and Mr. Mai Tien Dung, when holding the positions of member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Party Committee of the Government, Minister, and Head of the Government Office, violated Party regulations, State laws, regulations on what Party members are not allowed to do and responsibilities to set an example, affecting the reputation of the Party organization and State management agencies.
Also violating Party regulations, State laws and things that Party members are not allowed to do, Mr. Hoang Quoc Vuong, when he was Secretary of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade and Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai, also degraded in political ideology, ethics and lifestyle. These violations have caused public outrage and have had a very negative impact on the reputation of the Party organization and state management agencies.
According to the Secretariat, Mr. Vuong's violations "caused very serious consequences that were difficult to overcome, risked huge losses of state money and assets, and wasted social resources"; while Mr. Hai's "violations caused very serious consequences."

Mr. Trinh Dinh Dung, 68 years old, from Me Linh district, Hanoi; master's degree in economics, construction engineer; member of the Party Central Committee, terms 10 to 12; National Assembly delegate, terms 11 and 12. He was Chairman, Secretary of Vinh Phuc province, Deputy Minister and then Minister of Construction.
In April 2016, he was approved by the National Assembly to be elected Deputy Prime Minister and held this position for 5 years. He is in charge of the fields of industry, agriculture, trade, import-export, construction, transportation, natural resources and environment; foreign direct investment (FDI), Vietnam's investment abroad; energy security and energy saving; national key projects; economic zones, industrial zones, export processing zones... Mr. Dung is in charge of 5 ministries, including the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
