Nguyen Trung Cuong's previous record for a half marathon was 1 hour 7 minutes 15 seconds, set by him at a race track in Quang Tri province in March this year.

Last year, Trung Cuong also had a very good result at the National Marathon and Long Distance Championship with a time of 1 hour 8 minutes 13 seconds on the 21.0975km run.

Returning to the 2025 Tay Ho Half Marathon, the runner-up after Trung Cuong was Mosbei Eric Kiplimo (Kenya) with a time of 1 hour 11 minutes 4 seconds. Previously, Edwin Kiptoo, who had won against Trung Cuong many times, had registered to participate in the race from the beginning but could not show up at the last minute, forcing the organizers to find a replacement.

According to Tuoi Tre Online , Edwin Kiptoo had problems with his visa so he could not come to Vietnam to compete as planned. This caused a bit of regret for Trung Cuong, as he had shared that he was very eager to "take revenge" against Kiptoo in this tournament.

In the women's race, the golden girl of Vietnamese athletics, Nguyen Thi Oanh, continued to surpass Pham Thi Hong Le to win the half marathon with a time of 1 hour 15 minutes 43 seconds, 2 minutes faster than her teammate Hong Le.

Nguyen Trung Cuong, born in 2000, is a member of the Vietnamese athletics team participating in recent regional sports events. Trung Cuong is strong in middle and long distances, especially the 3,000m steeplechase.

He won a silver medal in the 3,000m steeplechase at the 30th SEA Games, and a gold medal in the same event at the 32nd SEA Games.

The 2025 Tay Ho Half Marathon will take place on April 13 in Hanoi . This is the 5th edition of the race, following 2020, 2022, 2023 and 2024. With 12,000 runners, the race continues to affirm itself as one of the largest half marathon races in Vietnam.

This is not only a prestigious half marathon, but also a part of Hanoi's sports history. The race route passes through heritage sites such as Quan Thanh Temple, Tran Quoc Pagoda, Tay Ho Palace, and Nhat Tan peach village.
