Nha Bich after merger: Innovation in thinking, promoting national cultural identity

(CTT-Dong Nai) - Possessing the advantage of connecting to the highlands, located along Highway 14 and conveniently connected to key traffic routes such as the North-South Expressway in the West (Gia Nghia - Chon Thanh); Chon Thanh - Ho Chi Minh City Expressway, Nha Bich commune has a lot of space and opportunities for development after the merger.

From the National Target Program on new rural construction, Nha Bich commune's infrastructure is becoming more and more spacious.

In addition, Nha Bich commune also has favorable natural conditions and diverse cultural identity due to its multi-ethnic composition. These are key factors for the first term after the merger, the Party Committee, the government and the people of Nha Bich to aim for stronger development.

Change your mindset to grow

As a locality with a high proportion of ethnic minorities (about 3,000 households, accounting for nearly 40% of the population in the old Nha Bich commune), people's lives previously relied mainly on agricultural production and small-scale business models. Therefore, economic development is still slow, not keeping up with the general level of the district.

However, the big turning point came from the National Target Program on New Rural Development in recent years. All three old communes before the merger reached the advanced new rural area target. Infrastructure was invested in a systematic way, traffic infrastructure, irrigation, schools were gradually completed, household economic models, cooperative economic models developed, leading to a significant improvement in the material and spiritual life of the people.

Continuing the achieved foundations, immediately after officially coming into operation, Nha Bich Commune Party Committee proactively built a development strategy for the period 2025-2030 with key, focal and breakthrough orientations.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hai Van, Standing Deputy Secretary of Nha Bich Commune Party Committee, said that the first task is to innovate thinking in the way of operating the new government apparatus after the merger, while effectively promoting the strength of the people. Along with that, the locality focuses on promoting the application of science and technology, digital transformation to create breakthroughs in socio-economic development.

Nha Bich commune clearly establishes its development perspective, the government must be an apparatus serving the people.

One of the important breakthroughs emphasized is planning. After the merger, the location, scale and area have changed a lot, so the construction of a synchronous and systematic development plan is of special importance to the future of Nha Bich.

From the key tasks identified in the draft documents of the Commune Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term, after 3 rounds of consultation, the document content received consensus and high appreciation from local cadres, party members and people.

Mr. Vu Dai Duy, a 53-year Party member, shared: Through monitoring, I realize that the issues raised in the draft documents of the Commune Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term are very practical, clearly demonstrating the desire for development. I believe in the team of young, capable, qualified cadres who have practical experience in the work to realize the goals that the people expect, bringing a prosperous and happy life to the people.

Developing Nha Bich with its own identity

Possessing a diverse community with about 13 ethnic groups living together, Nha Bich is a place where many unique traditional cultures converge. Notably, the festivals, customs and practices of the Khmer and Stieng people - two ethnic groups that account for a large proportion of the total population - are still being preserved and actively spread.

The unique cultural identity of the Khmer people in Nha Bich commune is preserved and promoted.

Along with identifying the key goals and tasks in the new term, the Nha Bich Commune Party Committee especially emphasized the viewpoint that development must be associated with preserving the national cultural identity. Ms. Nguyen Thi Hai Van, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Nha Bich Commune Party Committee, said: “To develop the locality sustainably in the coming term, we pay special attention to improving the lives of ethnic minorities. Along with creating livelihoods and increasing income, it is equally important to preserve and promote the cultural identity of each ethnic group, thereby creating the unique characteristics of Nha Bich”.

With a comprehensive development strategy, focusing on the people, the post-merger commune government apparatus has gradually become effective. In particular, the trust of ethnic minorities in the government has been increasingly strengthened.

Ms. Thach Thi Kieu Oanh, a Khmer ethnic in Nha Bich commune, shared: “In recent years, the lives of local people have had many positive changes thanks to the attention and care of authorities at all levels. When the commune was newly established with an increasingly effective apparatus to serve the people, not only us Khmer people but all the people in the commune felt very excited and confident.”

With the consensus between the Party, the Government and the People, especially the cooperation of ethnic minorities, Nha Bich promises to be a bright spot in the journey of sustainable construction and development.

In particular, in the new spirit of a post-merger locality, Nha Bich is aiming for a successful congress with a firm belief in solidarity and unanimity to realize the goals set out in the resolution, meeting the expectations of all the people in the commune.
