A representative of the T3 Terminal Construction Project Management Board at Tan Son Nhat International Airport confirmed that there was a water leak in the departure waiting area of the terminal after a heavy rain on the afternoon of May 7.
According to the representative of the T3 Terminal Construction Project Management Board, the glass roof of T3 Terminal is leaking water due to a loose glue layer.
The reason is believed to be the prolonged hot weather and high temperatures that have affected the quality of the glue. Meanwhile, the construction project is ahead of schedule to be put into operation, so there are no conditions for actual testing.
"This is a minor incident caused by the glue coming loose on the glass roof, not due to the quality of the project. We have taken note and immediately fixed it by re-injecting the glue," the representative of the Project Management Board confirmed.
When asked if the incident could recur if Ho Chi Minh City continues to have heavy rain, he said that after reinforcing the leak, rainwater will no longer leak.
Previously, a clip appeared on social media recording the scene of water flowing from the glass roof onto the floor in the passenger waiting area at the departure gate at Terminal T3. The station staff arrived promptly to clean up, while passengers continued to move and wait as usual.
The incident surprised many people because Terminal T3 is considered the most modern passenger terminal in the country, having just been inaugurated and put into operation since April 19. This is one of the key projects of Ho Chi Minh City and the whole country, completed 2 months ahead of schedule.
TB (according to VTC)Tan Son Nhat Airport Terminal 3 project is a national key project, invested by Vietnam Airports Corporation with a total investment of more than 10,000 billion VND.
According to the design, Terminal T3 has a capacity to serve 20 million passengers per year, equivalent to 7,000 passengers during peak hours. The project includes 1 basement and 4 floors above ground, with a total floor area of approximately 112,500 m².
Terminal T3 is designed with two separate levels, serving independent departure and arrival passenger flows. This area has 90 traditional check-in counters, 20 automatic baggage drop counters, 42 check-in kiosks, 27 boarding gates (including 13 telescopic gates and 14 bus gates), 6 departure baggage handling islands, 10 arrival baggage return islands, 25 security control gates, and separate areas for VIP, business and priority passengers.
