'Trong' is Nhac Cua Trang's 3rd studio album, almost without any collaborations with guest artists, except for two songs arranged with Khoa Vu - her familiar friend in 10 years of making music.

The album, which features 14 tracks ranging from pop and ballads to jazz and musicals, showcases her personal, experimental and emotional musical journey. Trang calls it her "most honest album" to date.

The name Trong is inspired by the concept of "Transparent, clear, pure, in the heart", as a reminder of the love found inside every person, full of sincerity and tenderness.

The Light and Dark Sides in Trang's Music

Trong , Trang divides the album into two distinct emotional tones. Bright songs like Befriending You , Smile of a Stranger , The Most Beautiful Thing About Love carry the faith and optimism that she "hasn't changed in years".

In contrast, darker songs like The Powerlessness of Words or Negotiating with Pain are where she asks questions that "may never find answers".

Sharing with Tuoi Tre Online , Trang said the order of the 14 songs starting from song 30 and ending with The Most Beautiful Thing About Love is an emotional arc in which she conveys the idea of ​​the journey to find pure love within.

"However, Trang still wants each song to be able to be enjoyed individually - listeners can choose to listen to the song they like without changing the overall idea and feeling of the album Trong ," she shared.

One of the song-forming moments that Trang often mentions is " Being friends with you" which was written when she was... mopping the floor: "It was an extremely normal day. But when my hands and feet were busy, I thought more clearly and was more optimistic. Meeting each other was already lucky, being friends - why not? If not, it's okay too."

The ending song The Most Beautiful Thing About Love reflects a complete separation, like a greeting for a deceased loved one, emphasizing the message of love and the choice to stay or let go while still maintaining gentleness.

Don't 'coax' the listener, be sincere with yourself

In Trong , the audience can clearly feel the new experiments in rhythm and melody handling. Some songs are constructed in a complicated way, less pleasing to the ear than Trang's old music. But this is a deliberate choice.

"In the end, artists always create works for themselves first. Every new musical experience, every new experiment must make the artist happy and enjoy it first," she believes that the artist's genuine emotions are the first layer of honesty, before discussing lyrics or stories.

When comparing this album with the album Chi co the la anh (2022), Trang said the biggest change lies in the way the songs are developed.

She no longer lets the song "wander" like before, but focuses on the core of the story, giving it a more coherent and tight feel. However, the way the song begins is still based on small things, emotions that "we rarely put into words".

Although admitting that the album can be difficult to approach if listeners do not understand the context of its creation, Trang is still in no rush to explain too much, but first lets Trong find the right listeners before she shares more details about the story behind it.
