Musician Chu Minh's birth name is Trieu Dat Hien, he was born on January 5, 1931 in Hanoi. Growing up in a family of civil servants, from a young age, the boy showed a passion for music . At the age of 11, Chu Minh began learning the violin.
From 1947 to 1950, he participated in the revolution, working at the Armed Propaganda Team of the Central Propaganda Department. Also during this period, he began using the pen name Chu Minh to compose songs, including "Viet Trung Xo" and "Binh Bien Victory". He was one of the first to establish the Central People's Art Troupe.

He was then sent to study a short-term intermediate music program in Wuhan ( China ).
From 1961 to 1965, he continued to study Composition at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing.
After graduating, he returned to Vietnam and taught Composition at the Vietnam Music School (now the Vietnam National Academy of Music), and was once the Head of the School's Theory - Composition - Conducting Department. He continued to compose vocal and instrumental music, gradually creating his own compositional style.
In 1969, when President Ho Chi Minh passed away, musician Chu Minh composed the immortal songs "The Country Leans"; "You Are the Faith of Certain Victory"... In 1972, he continued to make his mark with the work "Truong Son Road, the Triumph of War Calls for the Triumph of War". In 1973, musician Chu Minh wrote "We Proudly Go Up, Oh Vietnam" based on the poem by poet Hoang Trung Thong. The song is loved by many generations of audiences, considered a proud and proud anthem of the nation.
In addition to the above songs, musician Chu Minh also composed many songs such as: "Lotus", "I love Uncle Ho", "Worker's class", "The road of a hundred paths", "Opening song", "Green eyes of the homeland", "Don't be sad, listen to me"...

He was awarded the Third Class Resistance Medal against France, Second Class Resistance Medal against America, and Second Class Labor Medal by the Party and State.
