Musician Pham Tuyen - "Knight" of childhood

When mentioning musician Pham Tuyen, music lovers cannot forget his famous songs such as "From Sen Village", "The Party Gave Us a Spring", "The Party Gave Us Bright Eyes and Hearts", "The Truong Son Stick", "Like Having Uncle Ho in the Great Victory Day"... Those are the proud melodies that many people compare musician Pham Tuyen to "a historian through melodies". Musician Pham Tuyen was awarded the State Prize (2001) and the Ho Chi Minh Prize (2012) for Literature and Arts.

In the field of children's music alone, he has composed about 200 songs, most of which are associated with the childhood of many generations of Vietnamese music lovers. Musician Pham Tuyen was recognized by the Vietnam Record Organization as "The person with the most popular children's songs" in 2013. As Chairman of the Jury of the De Men Award 2025 and also a famous poet of children's poetry, poet Tran Dang Khoa impressed that: In the field of composing for children, it can be said that musician Pham Tuyen has closely followed the growth of children through music. He cherished the children from the time they were in their mother's arms, until they went to nursery school, kindergarten, first grade, joined the Team, gradually growing up, until they said goodbye to the age of red scarves to "Advance to Youth Union members".

Indeed, it is possible to use vivid images to talk about the children's songs of musician Pham Tuyen: Most Vietnamese people know a few songs, or at least a few lyrics composed by the musician. Typical songs are songs like "Who loves children as much as Uncle Ho Chi Minh", "Star lantern", "Chicken wings of childhood", "Our school is a kindergarten", "Little elephant in Ban Don", "Chim chim bong", "The whole week is good", "Miss and mother", "Tien len Doan vien"... The cute, funny melodies, easy-to-remember, easy-to-remember, familiar lyrics through the talent of musician Pham Tuyen become vivid, strangely attractive: "Who asks me which school I go to. Notably, at this year’s Cricket Awards, the book series “Baby Nursery Rhymes” by musician Pham Tuyen and his daughter, journalist Hong Tuyen, co-authored by the author, entered the final round of the competition. The publication introduces 41 nursery rhymes that were set to music by musician Pham Tuyen in a multimedia format, combining storytelling, music, illustrations and a QR code to listen to the audio.

The 6th De Men Award in 2025, organized by the Sports and Culture Newspaper (VNA), reviewed and evaluated 97 works created and completed during the period of 2024-2025. Through 2 rounds of judging, the Jury selected 10 works, a series of typical works of many genres to enter the final round and be considered for the award. 5 De Men Aspiration Awards include: a series of paintings by artist Pham Hai Nguyen (13 years old); "There is a flat Earth in my eyes" (manuscript of a collection of poems, author Ly Thang Long); "The ancient book of a goddess" (story, Nguyen Hoang Dieu Thuy, Kim Dong Publishing House); two books "From the vegetable fields at Cuc Cu farm" (drawn by Dom Dom) and "The things you use to fill a hole" (drawn by Thanh Vu) by Dy Duyen, Kim Dong Publishing House; “The Farm at the End of the Forest” (story, Pham Cong Luan, Kim Dong Publishing House).
