The Andrology Center - Viet Duc Friendship Hospital (Hanoi) has just successfully treated a 29-year-old man from Nam Dinh who was hospitalized due to a fall that caused testicular trauma and swelling.
The man was the groom, while having fun and dancing with his friends at his own wedding, he excitedly climbed onto a chair and accidentally fell and hit his groin on the chair. His scrotum and penis were then bruised and swollen, and his family took him to the emergency room.
The patient underwent emergency surgery and removed about 300 grams of blood clots from the scrotum and muscle damage. Doctors cleaned and carefully sutured the injured areas to stop bleeding. After 5 days of post-operative care, the patient's condition stabilized and he was discharged from the hospital.

Testicular injuries are rare, accounting for only a small percentage of genitourinary injuries because the testicles are mobile and protected between the thighs.
Trauma often occurs when the traumatic agent is compressed between the thigh or pubic symphysis. Bilateral testicular trauma accounts for about 1.5% of cases and needs to be detected and treated early to avoid serious consequences for men's reproductive health in the future. The cause of this condition often comes from:
- Injured while playing sports or assaulted.
- Traffic accidents.
- Testicular self-mutilation (occurs in transgender or mentally ill people).
- Wounds from animal bites, bullets, falls.
As soon as a scrotal injury is discovered, men can temporarily treat it at home by applying ice for about 10 minutes. This will help relieve pain and the patient will feel more comfortable. After applying ice to relieve pain, you should quickly go to a specialized medical facility for examination.
