The workshop was organized by the Department of Performing Arts (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) in coordination with the Young Writers' Committee (Vietnam Writers' Association).

The workshop attracted a large number of writers, poets, experts, researchers, managers... creating a vibrant forum.

Speaking at the workshop, Deputy Director of the Department of Performing Arts Tran Huong Duong emphasized that this is a forum for writers, scientists , and researchers to clarify a number of issues on improving young creative capacity; propose solutions, and enhance the role of state agencies and specialized literary associations in creating the development of young literature.

Regarding the overview of current youth literary activities, poet Tran Huu Viet, Head of the Young Writers Committee, said that in 2022, the Vietnam Writers Association will organize the 10th National Youth Writers Conference in Da Nang . There will be 138 delegates under the age of 35 attending. This is the largest number of delegates compared to the two consecutive conferences in the past 10 years.

The youngest delegate was born in 2007 (at that time, he was only 15 years old). Despite their young age, many of them possess impressive “fortunes”. These include: Vu Duc Anh, Huynh Le Trieu Phu, Pham Minh Quan, Phat Duong, Trac Diem, Vu Thi Huyen Trang, Nguyen Binh, Trang Nguyen, Dinh Phuong, Ly Huu Luong, Van Thanh Le, Lu Thi Mai, Le Quang Trang, Phan Duc Loc…

Poet Huu Viet also commented that the percentage of young members in the Vietnam Writers Association (if calculated up to the age of 40) is only approximately 4%, and if calculated from the age of 35 and under, it is only about 1.7%, a very low number that has been maintained for many years.

“Most young writers are well-equipped with knowledge, although passionate about writing, writing day and night, some emerge as potential, then suddenly they stop writing, leaving the literary world as easily as they arrived. This is also an issue that needs to be raised at the conference,” poet Tran Huu Viet emphasized.

According to the Head of the Young Writers Committee, to improve the quality of young literary creation, it is necessary to focus on training at home and especially abroad; organize literary competitions in a transparent manner, recognize and encourage young people; have policies to support young writers in publishing their works; create interest and respect for literature from the whole society...

Writer Trinh Bich Ngan, President of the Ho Chi Minh City Writers Association, believes that the most difficult thing for young writers today is to make an effort to be strong enough to face the harsh reality and keep their hearts from drying out. Because if they do not have enough willpower, do not have emotions, and do not explore and innovate in their creative techniques and poetics, they will gradually cede the "paradise" of creativity to artificial intelligence.

Writer Bich Ngan expressed her opinion that in order for young literature to move from breadth to height, it needs the support of many groups and sectors. The State needs to have a plan to commission young writers, especially on current topics, and at the same time, have a strategy to promote young literary works domestically and internationally...

Regarding the orientation and solutions for ordering and supporting literary creation for young authors, Dr. - young writer Le Vu Truong Giang (University of Science, Hue University) said that it is necessary to set out specific criteria on topics, genres, capacity, objects... based on the requirements of the country's literature and the opinions of experts in this field to orient the writing for young writers to achieve success. The State's activities to support the creation of high-quality literary and artistic works and projects need to have a certain proportion for young authors so that many new writers have the motivation to pick up their pens and pursue literature for a long time...
