Specifically, 53 communes and wards are free of the epidemic (21 days without new cases), of which 21 communes and wards have declared the epidemic free, 32 communes and wards have gone through 21 days. Currently, 12/65 communes and wards in the province still have the epidemic, the total number of pigs culled to date is 105,132, with a destroyed weight of 6,633 tons.
Head of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine Tran Cong Tam said: The fact that many communes and wards have basically controlled ASF is a positive sign, but the veterinary sector recommends that livestock households continue to strictly implement disease prevention and control procedures to prevent recurrence. In the coming time, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine will continue to work with localities where pigs are still being culled due to the disease to direct and guide the complete handling of outbreaks; continue to take samples at farms to monitor and support the sale of pigs (1,044 samples have been taken at 321 pig farms to monitor ASF, supporting the sale of 137,708 pigs); direct affiliated stations to continue to closely monitor the locality to promptly detect and support localities in disease prevention and control.
In addition, the unit will continue to propagate and guide pig farmers to implement disease prevention measures according to the instructions of the superior agency. If people want to re-raise pigs after being infected with DTLCP, they must ensure safety such as: enough time for the barn to be free of pathogens, ensuring hygiene, source of breeds, food, especially need to implement bio-safe pig farming.
