In the agricultural sector, the province has focused on directing the reasonable and economical regulation of water to serve production and livestock farming. The summer-autumn crop planting plan is being implemented. In particular, the province has developed an additional 476.83 hectares of high-tech agricultural areas, bringing the total area to 1,302.44 hectares, exceeding the annual plan by 30%. The management of export growing area codes has been promoted, with a total of 57 growing area codes/362.428 hectares. Livestock farming remains stable and continues to develop 5 production and product consumption linkage chains. The risk of forest fires is at level III due to hot weather. The province has strengthened forest fire prevention and fighting according to the "4 on-site" plan and protected and developed forests.
Mr. Truong Khac Tri, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, said: In the first 5 months of the year, the fisheries sector has shown positive signs when the weather and fishing grounds are favorable for fishing. The estimated output for the first 5 months is 8,302.9 tons, up 3.7% and the cumulative output for the first 5 months is estimated at 44,579.8 tons, up 2.7% over the same period. Shrimp seed production has increased significantly and the output of commercial farming is estimated at 3,941 tons, up 6.9% over the same period, especially high-value seafood specialties such as lobster, snails, and grouper.
The notable highlight is the industrial and construction sector. The industrial production index (IIP) in May 2025 increased by 8.1%, and the cumulative increase in the first 5 months of the year was 11.2%. In particular, the processing and manufacturing industry increased sharply by 21.7%, including aloe vera jelly (up 62.6%), frozen shrimp (up 6.7%), canned beer (up 53.8%) and especially stuffed animals with a skyrocketing growth of 149.7%. The province is also actively accelerating the progress of establishing, appraising and approving construction and urban planning projects.
The service sector also maintained strong growth momentum. Total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue increased by 15.3%, and the cumulative increase in the first 5 months of the year was 14.16%. Tourism continued to be a key industry, attracting 470,000 visitors in May, up 20.5%, bringing the total number of visitors in the first 5 months to 1.75 million, reaching nearly 50% of the annual plan and up 15.9% over the same period.
Regarding development investment, the total disbursed capital as of May 31 reached 30.6% of the plan assigned by the Prime Minister , higher than the national average (24.1%). This demonstrates the province's great efforts in accelerating the disbursement progress, especially capital for national target programs reaching 42.8%. Finance and banking work also improved when the total budget revenue in the province in the month reached 457.56 billion VND; accumulated revenue in 5 months was 3,049 billion VND, up 37.2% over the same period and reaching 55.4% of the plan assigned by the Provincial People's Council.
One of the proud highlights of the province in May is that by May 31, all 7/7 districts and cities had completed the program of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses, handing over 2,183 houses to people in the province. This achievement not only helped the province reach the finish line 1 month ahead of the province's plan but also 5 months ahead of the central government's plan, making Ninh Thuan the 14th province in the country to successfully complete this task. The work of creating new jobs continued to achieve good results with 2,195 workers in the month, a cumulative 5-month figure of 10,125 people, reaching 63.3% of the plan.
Comrade Nguyen Thanh Phu, Director of the Department of Finance, said: Despite achieving many positive results, the province still faces some difficulties such as prolonged heat and drought affecting summer-autumn crop production. Some processed industrial and mining products have decreased due to reduced market demand. In particular, the progress of disbursement of public investment capital is still slow and business operations are still difficult as the number of newly established enterprises tends to decrease and the number of dissolved enterprises increases.
To continue the growth momentum and complete the 2025 target, the Provincial People's Committee has set out many key tasks for June. In particular, focusing on drastically implementing solutions to implement the 2025 plan tasks in the spirit of the resolutions of the Government, the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Council, especially the decisions and plans issued on promoting growth. Speeding up the implementation of tasks related to the Ninh Thuan nuclear power project. Promoting the adjustment of the provincial planning, closely coordinating with central ministries and branches for early completion. Strengthening support, removing difficulties for businesses, promptly resolving recommendations. Promoting summer-autumn crop production, effectively implementing forest fire prevention and fighting plans and speeding up the progress of determining specific land prices for projects. Strengthening the management of urban construction order and promoting the implementation of industrial and energy projects. Maintain political security, order and social safety, especially in the nuclear power plant project area.
With proactive and decisive leadership and management, Ninh Thuan province is making every effort to overcome difficulties and challenges, aiming to complete the socio-economic development goals for 2025, creating a solid foundation for sustainable development for 2026 and the following years.
