Large-scale investment promotion forum on aviation

The seminar is considered an important forum for stakeholders, including regulatory agencies, airlines and private enterprises from both sides, to exchange and seek cooperation opportunities. This is also an opportunity for the US side to introduce its capacity, experience and advanced aviation solutions in design, operation, safety and digitalization; thereby supporting Vietnam to realize its aspiration to become a leading aviation hub in the region and strengthen bilateral trade relations.

According to Mr. Stephen Green, Commercial Counselor of the US Embassy in Vietnam, enhancing connectivity in air transport is not only important for trade and investment but also contributes to promoting innovation, safety, security as well as connecting people of the two countries.

Scene of the seminar

Vietnam’s aviation market is currently one of the fastest growing in Southeast Asia. Passenger traffic is expected to grow by 8% per year until 2030. Major investments in airport infrastructure and fleet expansion are also underway, opening up unprecedented opportunities for cooperation. Vietnam’s master plan for the development of its national airport system targets 30 airports by 2030 and 33 airports by 2050, supported by advanced technology and policies that encourage public-private partnerships.

In the aviation sector, Vietnam and the United States have made strong progress. Many Vietnamese airlines have signed major agreements with US partners in many areas, from opening direct flights, sharing runways, transporting goods to aircraft technical services, technological cooperation and training high-quality human resources.

In particular, at bilateral meetings and contacts, both sides recognized that there is still a lot of room for aviation cooperation; creating opportunities for deeper and broader cooperation, bringing mutual benefits to both sides. Accordingly, Vietnamese enterprises have the opportunity to access the most advanced technology, experience and management standards in the world; meanwhile, US enterprises have the opportunity to participate in a fast-growing, potential and most vibrant aviation market in the region. More importantly, this cooperation will actively contribute to enhancing bilateral economic and trade relations between Vietnam and the United States.

Deputy Ambassador of the United States to Vietnam Courtney Beale speaks at the Dialogue

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Ambassador of the United States to Vietnam Courtney Beale affirmed: “Strengthening aviation partnerships not only promotes economic cooperation but also drives innovation, raises safety and security standards, and deepens the people-to-people connections that define the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.”

The Deputy Ambassador especially appreciated T&T Group, affirming that T&T Group
“is a typical example of the transformational leading role of the private economic sector”. Notably, the Group is currently actively building a comprehensive aviation ecosystem, complete with airlines, airports, and airport-urban complexes integrating modern aviation infrastructure in the future.

“Vietnam’s aviation master plan encourages the application of advanced technology and equipment, with private sector participation playing a key role. This opens up tremendous opportunities for cooperation, innovation and partnership between Vietnam and the United States,” said Courtney Beale.

Mr. Do Vinh Quang, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of T&T Group, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietravel Airlines spoke at the seminar.

On the business side, Mr. Do Vinh Quang, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of T&T Group, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietravel Airlines emphasized: “For T&T Group, cooperation with US partners has always been identified as one of the long-term development strategies of the Group. Particularly in the aviation sector, we and Vietravel Airlines are pursuing an integrated aviation group model, focusing on technology, international management and customer experience. We believe that, with the companionship of leading partners from the United States, Vietravel Airlines will not only develop sustainably in Vietnam, but also contribute to making Vietnam an attractive destination, strongly connected with the region and the world,” Mr. Do Vinh Quang emphasized.

At the Seminar, US “giants” such as Amazon Web Services, Corgan, GE Aerospace… shared a lot of useful information. Meanwhile, T&T Group also proposed and sought cooperation opportunities in many fields, from airport operation experience, developing smart airport models, deploying flight service utilities, to terminal design and management. These are all areas in which US partners have strengths and are also the categories that T&T Group is interested in, aiming for extensive cooperation in the future.

T&T Group's grand vision for aviation

It was not until the organization of the Vietnam - US Aviation Cooperation Seminar that T&T Group was mentioned on the domestic aviation "map". In this specific field, T&T's plan does not stop at developing an airline or airport. The group of businessman Do Quang Hien aims at the integrated aviation group model - a model that has been very successful in many countries around the world such as: Singapore Airlines Group, Lufthansa Group (Germany), Qatar Airways and Emirates Group (UAE)...

To implement this strategy, T&T Group has been building a solid foundation, ready for the birth of a complete aviation ecosystem in the future. In this ecosystem, T&T Airlines is a business specializing in aviation services, including air transport, travel agencies, flight operations services, and other direct support services and activities.

Regarding hard infrastructure, the most prominent is Quang Tri Airport - a key project in the Central region invested by T&T Group. The project started construction in July 2024 with a scale of 265 hectares, total investment capital of more than 5,800 billion VND. When completed, the Airport will meet level 4C standards; be capable of developing Code E aircraft operations; meet the needs of operating up to 5 million passengers and 25,500 tons of cargo per year. Recently, Quang Tri province has proposed to allow the Airport to upgrade to level 4E to expand its capacity to receive wide-body aircraft such as Boeing 777, Airbus A350, serving the goal of international connectivity and developing the North Central region. According to the plan, the Airport is expected to complete phase 1 in 2026.

Perspective of Quang Tri Airport

Not stopping there, T&T is also planning to develop an aviation industrial complex - logistics - services - trade - airport urban area with a scale of about 10,800 hectares located in Quang Tri province; including all functional areas for an aviation industrial complex such as: aircraft maintenance and repair, production and assembly of aircraft spare parts and aircraft equipment, aircraft production and testing..., logistics and freight forwarding service area (logistics hub), innovative aviation area, modern service center area and airport urban area. If this idea is successfully implemented, this will be the first aviation industrial complex - airport urban area model in Vietnam.

Firmly on the ground and in the sky, T&T Group continues to demonstrate its "great vision" by becoming a strategic shareholder of Vietravel Airlines. In just a short time after this important milestone, Vietravel Airlines has continuously welcomed its own fleet of aircraft. The airline also actively promotes negotiations with aircraft manufacturers and international airlines to realize its commitment to expand its fleet and flight network. The goal by 2030 is to have a fleet size of 30-50 aircraft, with a flight network covering Southeast Asia, Northeast Asia and the Middle East. It can be said that Vietravel Airlines is an important piece for T&T to complete the aviation ecosystem, aiming to build an aviation group according to international models.

Vietravel Airlines is an important piece for T&T to complete the aviation ecosystem.

In particular, T&T Group's investment in the aviation sector has always received trust and support from the Government, localities as well as industry management agencies. This is a clear demonstration of its position as a typical and pioneering enterprise of the private economic sector in the aviation sector. Not only actively participating in PPP projects and investing in key national infrastructure projects, T&T Group has also proactively developed the logistics - aviation - supporting industry - smart urban ecosystem, gradually building a synchronous value chain. These steps not only require strong financial potential, but more importantly, also clearly demonstrate the long-term vision and national mindset of businessman Do Quang Hien and T&T Group, along with their commitment to sustainable development - in line with the spirit that the Party and Government expect from the private sector.

In fact, over the years, T&T Group and its ecosystem members have continuously expanded their cooperation with leading strategic partners in the United States. In the aviation sector, in February 2025, T&T Group met and worked with aircraft manufacturer Boeing. At the event, Boeing expressed its interest and agreed in principle to let T&T become its strategic partner in Vietnam and Southeast Asia.

Previously, in September 2021, T&T Group signed a series of contracts and memorandums of understanding with US partners in the fields of renewable energy, agricultural product purchasing, and exclusive distribution of famous functional food brands.

Not only stopping at trade, T&T Group also has a direct presence in the United States through T&T America. Up to now, T&T America has implemented many valuable investment activities, typically real estate projects in Huntington Beach and Brookhurst, California. This enterprise is also continuing to research and expand the scale of investment in Huntington Beach, with plans to add large investments in the near future.

These strategic investments not only contribute to expanding the global value chain but also promote foreign direct investment (FDI) flows from the United States to Vietnam and increase consumption of related products and services, thereby contributing to improving the bilateral trade balance.
