Trinh Cong Son's 'Remembering Hanoi's Autumn' is one of the 50 representative songs of the past 50 years.

13 musicians including Trinh Cong Son, The Hien, Nguyen Van Ty, Lu Nhat Vu... have works on the list of 50 typical songs of the country in the past 50 years.

On the evening of October 29, the first program of the 2025 National Expanded Music Festival took place at the Southern Military Theater (HCMC).

The event was attended by Major General, musician Nguyen Duc Trinh - Chairman of the Vietnam Musicians' Association; musician, People's Artist Pham Ngoc Khoi - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Musicians' Association and music critic Nguyen Thi Minh Chau - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Musicians' Association. In addition, there were members of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Musicians' Association and musicians and artists from 37 branches nationwide.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (1975-2025), the Vietnam Musicians Association and its branches nationwide voted for 50 typical songs of the country in the past 50 years. The Association presented certificates of honor on Vietnam Music Day (September 3) this year in Hanoi. On October 29, the Association continued to present certificates of honor in Ho Chi Minh City.

13 musicians and 13 works honored in Ho Chi Minh City include: musician Truong Quang Luc with This Earth is Ours ; musician Van Thanh Nho with Lullaby of the Country ; musician The Hien with Singing About You ; musician Nguyen Ngoc Thien with Oh Beloved Life; musician Lu Nhat Vu with Song of the Southern Land ;

Musician Hoang Hiep with Remembering Hanoi ; musician Diep Minh Tuyen with Hat Mai Khuc Quan March ; musician Nguyen Van Ty with Dang Dang Ben Tre ; musician Trinh Cong Son with Remembering Hanoi's Autumn ; musician Thanh Tung with Giot Nang Ben Sien ; musician Ton That Lap with Tri An Echoes of Spring ; musician Tu Huy with Que Huong Tuoi Thoi Toi ; musician Nguyen Van Nam with Symphony of the Rising Mekong River.

At the ceremony, musicians or representatives of musicians' families received the honor. The Festival's Art Council included: People's Artist, Musician Nguyen Quang Vinh - Chairman of the Council; Musician Tran Nhat Duong; People's Artist Ta Minh Tam; Musician Giang Son; Musician Vo Dai Hoai An.

In the first program on the evening of October 29, singers from many branches competed to perform the songs: Remembering Nha Rong Wharf That Year, There Was a Very Strange Saigon, Vietnamese Mother, From the Top of the Mountain, The Shadow of the Konia Tree, Keeping Truong Sa Forever...

National Open Music Festival 2025

The 2025 National Expanded Music Festival with the theme "Music Convergence and Spread" will take place at the Southern Military Theater and the Ho Chi Minh City Opera House from October 29 to November 2. The festival is organized by the Vietnam Musicians' Association in coordination with the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports; Ho Chi Minh City Radio and Television Station; and the Ho Chi Minh City Music Association.

The program is organized to welcome Party Congresses at all levels, towards the 14th National Congress of the Party; Celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and China (1950 - 2025), and launch the "Vietnam - China Humanitarian Exchange Year" to strengthen cooperation in the field of music between the two countries.

The themes of the works and performances participating in the festival focus on reflecting the themes of the Party, Uncle Ho, the cause of building and defending the Fatherland, love for the homeland, the country, traditional Vietnamese culture and in the era of national development; culture and international friendship. The 2025 National Music Festival includes 2 areas: Festival of musical works; Festival of Vietnamese voices and solo musical instruments (performance festival).
