With the theme "Music Converges and Spreads ," the festival is a celebration for musicians, artists, and music lovers nationwide. The event aims to honor and promote new musical works, encourage creativity in composition, performance, and music education; and create opportunities for exchange and interaction between musicians and artists from Vietnam and abroad, meeting the increasingly sophisticated artistic tastes of the audience.

The works participating in the festival focus on reflecting themes about the Party, President Ho Chi Minh, the cause of building and defending the Fatherland, love for the homeland, the Vietnamese people in the era of integration, along with cultural values ​​and international friendship.

The 2025 National Expanded Music Festival consists of two parts: the Music Works Festival and the Vietnamese Vocal and Instrumental Solo Festival. Participating works must be new compositions from 2024-2025 by members of the Vietnam Musicians Association, never before entered in any other competition, and must be in the genre of song, ensemble, or instrumental solo, with a duration of no more than 7 minutes.

For the performance section, participating artists and singers were selected to perform Vietnamese works of high artistic and technical value. The festival featured over 600 musicians and artists from 38 branches of the Vietnam Musicians Association nationwide, presenting more than 185 performances across 7 competition programs.

The festival brought together many famous names in Vietnamese music such as: Meritorious Artist To Nga, Meritorious Artist Tien Lam, Meritorious Artist Que Thuong, Meritorious Artist Thanh Nhan, Meritorious Artist Hong Tam, Meritorious Artist Y Joel K'nul, Meritorious Artist A Duh - A Xin; along with singers Tung Duong, Tran Hong Nhung, Pham Khanh Ngoc, Trang Nhung, Quoc Tri, Hien Xuan, Nhat Huyen, Y Moan H'Mok...

In addition, the event also featured instrumental soloists such as Nguyen Hung Tam (guitar), Hoang Thanh Tu (zither), Nguyen Duy Thinh (dan bau), Tran Hoang Oanh (dan nguyet), Luong Viet Hung (Mong flute), Tran Thu Hien (piano), Nguyen Cong Minh (flute)... and music groups like Sol Viet, Black Eyes, along with dance groups providing illustrative performances.

The festival's award structure includes A and B prizes for musical works, and gold and silver medals for performances.

One of the highlights of the program is the Vietnam-China Friendship Symphony performance, presented by the Ho Chi Minh City Opera and Ballet Symphony Orchestra (HBSO) in collaboration with Vietnamese and Chinese artists and singers.

The program will feature representative works such as the symphony "Fantasy of the Red River and the Yangtze River Flowing Together to the Great Sea" (Do Hong Quan), "Harmony of Colors" (People's Artist Xuan Bac), the song " River of Friendship" (music by Duc Trinh, Vietnamese lyrics by Le Tu Minh, Chinese lyrics by Luong Thieu Vu) performed by singers Khanh Ngoc and Wu Wei (China), the duet of Bau and Nguyet lutes " Mutual Understanding" (Duc Trinh), " Festival Day " (People's Artist Pham Ngoc Khoi), etc.

Introducing over 120 new works at the National Music Festival : The 2024 National Music Festival will showcase over 140 musical performances, including 120 newly composed works and more than 20 artists competing in vocal and instrumental solo performances.
