The 2025 National Expanded Music Festival, organized by the Vietnam Musicians Association in collaboration with the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City, Ho Chi Minh City Radio and Television Station, and the Ho Chi Minh City Music Association, celebrates the Party Congresses at all levels, leading up to the 14th National Congress of the Party; and commemorates the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and China (1950 - 2025).
The festival also serves as the launch event for the Vietnam-China Humanistic Exchange Year, aiming to strengthen cooperation in the field of music between the two countries.
600 musicians and artists participated.
The Vietnam Musicians Association stated that the 2025 National Music Festival is a celebration for musicians and music lovers, aiming to showcase and promote new musical works and projects, and to further encourage exploration and creativity in the fields of composition, performance, and music education.
This is also an opportunity for musical exchange and interaction between composers and performing artists from both Vietnam and abroad.
The works and performances participating in the festival focus on reflecting the themes of the Party, President Ho Chi Minh , the current construction and protection of our Fatherland, love for the homeland, traditional Vietnamese culture and people in the era of national development; and international culture and friendship.
The 2025 National Expanded Music Festival comprises two areas: the Music Works Festival (compositions from 2024); and the Vietnamese Vocal and Instrumental Solo Festival (performance festival).
Sixty-six musicians and artists participated in the festival, coming from 38 branches of the Vietnam Musicians Association in provinces and cities nationwide, with more than 185 performances in 7 competition programs.
The organizing committee will award A and B prizes to musical works participating in the festival; and gold and silver medals to performances by artists, singers, and orchestras.

This year's festival is particularly significant as it commemorates the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and China. Therefore, the Vietnam Musicians Association, in collaboration with the Guangxi Academy of Arts (China), organized the composition, arrangement, and performance of a Vietnam-China Symphony Orchestra during the closing ceremony of the festival on November 2nd at the Ho Chi Minh City Opera House.
The 80-minute program features performances by the Symphony Orchestra of the Vietnam National Opera and Ballet Theatre (HBSO) along with Vietnamese and Chinese artists and singers.
The artists performed the Vietnam-China Friendship Symphony and songs composed by musicians from both countries, such as Do Hong Quan, Duc Trinh, Pham Ngoc Khoi, Xuan Bac (musician Xuan Bac is from the Military University of Culture and Arts), and Chinese musicians: Hou Daohui, Lu Junhui, Dai Wei, Chung Juncheng…
