The Ho Chi Minh City Open River Swimming Championship attracted 51 teams with nearly 600 athletes, competing in 1000m and 500m distances from Ba Son Bridge to Pier No. 4 (Sign Language Flagpole).
In addition, the public can also enjoy special water sports performances such as: Sailing performance, jet-skiing performance, windsurfing, flyboarding and paragliding performance... with unique and special techniques from professional athletes performed right on the Saigon River from Ba Son Bridge to Nha Rong Wharf...
The tournament is organized to promote the image, land, people, and unique cultural identity of Ho Chi Minh City. Building the image of the Saigon River as a cultural symbol of the city, optimally exploiting the value of the city's river and canal system.
The tournament creates opportunities for swimming enthusiasts across the country to compete, exchange, learn, and improve their skills and expertise in practicing and competing in water sports.

To ensure the safety of the athletes, the volunteer team of SUP boaters followed the swimmers closely to promptly rescue them in case of an incident.

The 2024 Ho Chi Minh City River Festival will take place for 10 days, from May 31 to June 9 at many locations in Ho Chi Minh City, including: Nha Rong - Khanh Hoi Port, Bach Dang Wharf Park, Nhieu Loc Thi Nghe Canal area, Lan Anh Marina (Thu Duc City), Ngoi Sao Viet Wharf (District 7), Binh Dong Wharf (District 8), Suoi Tien Cultural Tourism Area, other tourist areas and destinations in Thu Duc City and districts of Ho Chi Minh City.
