Cruise ships are one of the unique experiences that many tourists love. However, to have a safe trip, passengers must understand some safety principles when traveling by cruise ship.
Before boarding
Before departure, visitors need to find out information about the ship: such as where the ship has emergency exits, where the ship stores lifeboats and life rafts?...
On cruise ships, life jackets are available in the deck and cabin areas. During the trip, visitors must always keep life jackets nearby in case of an accident.
For destinations on the itinerary, travelers should also check local weather information and advisories.
When on board
During the time on the ship, visitors should not approach the railing or the ship's side. Standing near the railing, climbing out onto the deck to take pictures or not paying attention when the ship changes direction can easily lead to accidents.

According to cruise experts, slipping and falling on a moving ship is also one of the reasons why tourists get injured. Therefore, tourists should wear shoes with good grip, avoid walking barefoot or in slippers on the deck. Elderly people and children should not walk around too much when the ship is moving. Sit in the right position, limit playing around.
In case of big waves or strong winds, hold on to the handrail or fixed object to avoid collision.
When the bad situation happens
If the ship unfortunately sinks, try to stay calm to handle the situation effectively. With large ships, the sinking process usually takes place more slowly, so visitors need to quickly prepare all necessary equipment such as buoys, life rafts, wooden planks (if available), plastic cans... You can use large plastic bags, inflate them and tie them together to make a temporary floating device.
Tourists should stand opposite the side of the sinking ship. If the ship is tilting to the left, stand to the right to maintain balance and prolong the time for water to enter the hull. If you are in a room below the ship, find a way to escape, breaking the door if necessary.
When jumping into the water, you should jump straight and with the wind, not against the wind, and not on the side of a sinking ship.
After entering the water, quickly swim away from the sunken ship to avoid being caught in the whirlpool, but stay close to the ship for easy rescue. Try to hold on to anything that floats.
In particular, try to send out distress signals to increase your chances of being rescued.
