Prosperous first months of the year
In the first 5 months of 2025, although steel production still faced difficulties due to the impact of export markets and tariff policies, Ha Tinh industry still recorded positive signs from manufacturing industries such as batteries, electricity, fibers, etc. Thereby, contributing to the industry's production index increasing by 3.8% over the same period last year.
According to the analysis of the professional sector, the processing and manufacturing industry continues to be the key industry, determining the growth rate of the whole industry. In 5 months, with an increase of 3.35%, the processing and manufacturing industry contributed 2.65 points to the growth of the industry. In particular, many products of the processing and manufacturing industry grew well. With increased investment in technology, expansion of production scale and good use of market opportunities, textile fiber production in 5 months increased by more than 34% compared to the same period in 2024. The garment manufacturing industry also recorded an increase of 21% compared to the same period last year.
In particular, to meet the growing demand of the electric car market, the packpin and cellpin factory in Vung Ang Economic Zone has been operating at high capacity in the first months of the year. Packpin output in 5 months reached more than 10,000 packs, an increase of 57 times over the same period last year; cellpin output reached nearly 7 million cells, contributing significantly to the growth of the industry.
Along with the processing and manufacturing industry, in the first 5 months of the year, the electricity production industry also recorded an increase of 3.96% over the same period and contributed 0.76 points to the growth of the entire industry.
According to Mr. Tran Huu Duong - Deputy Head of Planning - Materials Department (Ha Tinh Oil and Gas Power Company), Vung Ang 1 Thermal Power Plant, in the first 5 months of the year, the plant has generated more than 3.2 billion kWh to the grid. Currently, the unit is implementing solutions for safe and stable operation, contributing to ensuring national energy security. In June, the plant strives to produce about 645 million kWh, and in 2025 it is expected to produce 6.5 billion kWh.
According to industry experts, in general, industrial production has remained stable since the beginning of the year and has recovered strongly compared to the same period in 2024. Large-scale enterprises and key projects are the main factors driving the industry's growth.
Along with the efforts of manufacturing enterprises, many policies to remove difficulties for enterprises continue to be implemented, especially monetary policies, supporting interest rate reduction. Since the beginning of the year, banks have implemented many interest rate reductions to support economic growth, which has had a positive impact on promoting industrial production.
Expectations from key projects
Having passed nearly half of the 2025 plan, industrial enterprises are currently focusing on promoting solutions to boost production and business, and develop product consumption markets. In the last months of the year, enterprises have a quite positive view of the market situation, especially for some industries with year-end development advantages such as textiles, construction materials, etc.
Ms. Tran Thi Thanh - Chief Accountant of Tran Chau Construction Investment Company Limited (Bac Cam Xuyen Industrial Park) said: "With the production of construction materials such as commercial concrete, unburnt bricks, colored tiles, concrete components, starting from the second quarter, the weather conditions are favorable for construction works, so the company's production activities are also better than in the first quarter. To achieve the production and business goals this year, the company continues to implement solutions to improve sales to maintain and expand new markets, while focusing on product quality and enhancing business reputation".
According to the Department of Industry and Trade, in the coming time, Ha Tinh industry expects growth from large projects that have been and are about to come into operation. Vung Ang II Thermal Power Plant has reached 99.3% progress and is undergoing trial operation to prepare for commercial operation. VinFast electric car manufacturing plant is currently focusing on construction, expected to complete phase 1 in July 2025.
In the coming time, the lithium-ion battery market in Vietnam is expected to continue to grow strongly, so the packpin and cellpin manufacturing industry is a growth advantage. According to the representative of VinES Battery Factory, the unit is currently focusing on ensuring production activities, and is expected to produce about 115,000 packs in 2025.
In addition, projects such as VSIP Industrial Park under construction; Gia Lach Industrial Park expansion, Vinhomes Vung Ang Industrial Park are carrying out compensation and site clearance work... will bring sustainable development to the industry in the coming years.
According to Mr. Le Xuan Tu - Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, to promote industrial production, the Department of Industry and Trade continues to implement industry development orientations according to the Provincial Planning; implement the VIII Power Planning in the province; proactively and effectively implement policies to support businesses; support the promotion of production at enterprises and strengthen the connection of supply and demand for the province's key products; accompany and promote the progress of key projects to put them into operation according to plan, creating new growth momentum.
At the same time, focus on completing the project to develop supporting industries; create maximum conditions for the establishment and expansion of industrial clusters in the area to attract capable and experienced investors to implement; support businesses in digital transformation, strengthen industrial promotion to support businesses in innovating technology, machinery and equipment, improving production capacity, etc.
Industry is an important driving force, contributing mainly to the overall economic growth of the province. In meetings on socio-economic development, provincial leaders often emphasize the task of promoting industrial production, especially key products, and removing difficulties and accelerating the progress of key projects being implemented to put them into production soon. In May, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Trong Hai and the provincial delegation inspected a number of large-scale industrial projects in Vung Ang Economic Zone to grasp the production situation, construction progress and difficulties and problems of enterprises and investors for timely resolution.
With positive signals from large projects in production and projects preparing to be put into operation, along with drastic solutions from all levels, the industry will be the "pushing force" to create momentum for Ha Tinh's industry to achieve the growth target of 13.14%, contributing to the realization of the province's economic growth target of over 8% in 2025.
