Dong Hoa commune is changing its rural appearance day by day, with spacious houses of policy families and people with meritorious services to the revolution. This is a vivid demonstration of the Party and State's attention to gratitude and repayment. From living in temporary and deprived houses, policy families and people with meritorious services are now settled down, have stable lives and continue to promote revolutionary traditions, setting good examples in the community. Since the beginning of 2025, Dong Hoa commune has implemented a program to support the construction and repair of new houses for policy families and people with meritorious services, aiming to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses. Each house is supported with 30 - 60 million VND from the State budget combined with socialization. The housing model ensures the "3 hard" criteria (hard foundation, hard frame, hard roof), with a minimum area of 40 - 55m2 .
Mr. Nguyen Van Thach, a 2/4 disabled soldier, residing in Group 11, Hamlet 9 Xang, shared: “When I was young, I joined the local guerrilla force, was injured and infected with Agent Orange. Before, my family's circumstances were difficult. In 2016, my family received support from the State to build a house of gratitude. Up to now, my family has once again received attention from the government, supporting the construction of a new, more solid house to stabilize our lives. My family is grateful to the locality for reviewing and selecting the right people and the right subjects.” Sharing the same joy, Mr. Le Van Lanh, a 3/4 disabled soldier, residing in Hamlet 9 Xang, said: “This year, I am over 70 years old, and my health is not good. With the State's support of 60 million VND, I borrowed an additional 20 million VND to build a house. People, construction workers, and brick carriers helped me build the house. I am happy and grateful.”
Not only the support of the State, the attention of the government, the local people together supporting and contributing to build houses for people with meritorious services has spread the spirit of solidarity and "mutual love" of the nation. Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Dong Hoa commune Truong Minh Dieu said: "Determining the work of caring for families with meritorious services and people with meritorious services is a key political task. The commune regularly reviews and compiles statistics on the living conditions of families with meritorious services and people with meritorious services to the revolution, in order to have timely support plans".
From temporary houses, many families of people with meritorious services are now settled in new houses. From houses of affection, people with meritorious services to the revolution are given more motivation to live, continue to contribute and set an example in the community. On the journey of building a new countryside, Dong Hoa commune is changing every day, not only through clean and beautiful roads, spacious schools, but also existing in warm and loving homes, where people with meritorious services can live in peace, gathering with their children and grandchildren.
