The number of pharmacists with university degrees trained by Hanoi University of Pharmacy accounts for over 50% of the total number of pharmacists nationwide, the number of pharmacists with postgraduate degrees accounts for over 80% of the total number of pharmacists nationwide.
Up to now, Hanoi University of Pharmacy has gone through 110 years of training in pharmacy (1914-2024). During that time, this school has trained tens of thousands of high-quality human resources, with 94% of graduates having jobs in their majors.

Attending the anniversary celebration of the establishment of Hanoi University of Pharmacy, Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan assessed that in order to achieve the goal of making Vietnam's pharmaceutical industry a spearhead industry, developing the country's socio-economy , in addition to professional and technical solutions, the school needs a very important solution, which is to focus on scientific research and training high-quality human resources for the pharmaceutical industry.
"The people who will carry out this task are none other than medical and pharmaceutical universities across the country. In particular, Hanoi University of Pharmacy will be one of the leading institutions in the country focusing on implementing this important task," the Minister affirmed.
According to the Minister of Health, in recent times, our country's pharmaceutical industry has had relatively strong development, with the pharmaceutical market size reaching the 7 billion USD mark.
In addition, the pharmaceutical industry has a system of 180 pharmaceutical import facilities, 238 pharmaceutical production units meeting GMP standards, over 5,100 pharmaceutical wholesale units, over 65,000 pharmaceutical retail facilities nationwide, and the ratio of pharmacists per 10,000 people meets the set target.
However, according to the Minister, in order to move towards solutions for the development of the pharmaceutical industry in the coming time, medical and pharmaceutical universities need to provide a sufficient amount of human resources to meet the needs of research, production and pharmaceutical practice nationwide.
Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hai Nam, Principal of Hanoi University of Pharmacy, said that from the initial resources, the school only had 37 lecturers, 9 specialized departments and 500 students studying only one major: pharmacy.
Up to now, the school has 400 lecturers, 8 specialized departments, 1 national institute of pharmaceutical technology, 1 national information center and nearly 6,000 students studying 4 undergraduate training majors, 7 master training majors, 7 doctoral training majors, 2 specialized training majors 1 and 2.
The school's future goal is to develop into a multidisciplinary university, oriented towards research, combined with professional practice. From there, it will become a high-quality training center, a prestigious center for science and technology and research transfer in the country and the region.
