In 1956, implementing the policy of the Party and the State, 45 Southern cadres gathered in the North together with political prisoners from Chi Hoa Prison returned by the French colonialists to Luong Son district to establish Group 1 and Chi Hoa Group, with the task of reclaiming wasteland and developing the economy. Later, Group 1 merged with Chi Hoa Group and was called the Southern Production Group, later renamed Cuu Long Production Group - the predecessor of Cuu Long State Farm. In 1958, Chi Hoa Production Group was awarded the Third Class Labor Medal by the Prime Minister for its achievements in "Agricultural production and livestock breeding in Luong Son (Hoa Binh), making many production achievements contributing to the economic recovery and construction of the North".
On October 19, 1958, during his visit to Hoa Binh province, President Ho Chi Minh visited the Southern Army Division stationed in Luong Son and the Chi Hoa Production Group. Here, he rested under a large star fruit tree. He asked about and advised everyone to be assured, enthusiastic about production, and improving their lives was a practical contribution to the struggle for national reunification.
The event of President Ho Chi Minh visiting the Chi Hoa Production Group showed his affection for the people and soldiers of the South in general, for the cadres and workers of the Chi Hoa Production Group and the people of Luong Son in particular. After the country was unified, many comrades returned to their homeland in the South. Whenever they had the opportunity to return to the North, everyone visited the old star fruit tree that Uncle Ho instructed them to take care of, both to provide shade and to produce fruit to remember the old memories. And those who did not have the opportunity to return still yearned for the day when they would stand under Uncle Ho's star fruit tree.
The place where Uncle Ho visited Chi Hoa Production Group, now Hoa Binh Bee Enterprise - Central Bee Joint Stock Company, is located in Doc Phan hamlet, Lam Son commune. The star fruit tree is still there, green and spreading its branches. In the past, the star fruit tree had two main trunks, but due to time, one trunk has rotted and hollowed out, now there is only one trunk about 15m high; the trunk circumference (the trunk is about 1m above the ground) is about 1m, the canopy is about 10m wide. At the foot of the star fruit tree is a large stone block engraved with the historical event of Uncle Ho's visit so that everyone and future generations can clearly understand this event.
In order to protect and preserve the historical revolutionary relic, in 2019, the Provincial People's Committee issued a Decision approving the investment policy for the construction of a project to restore the relic site of Uncle Ho's visit to Chi Hoa Production Group. The project is built on an area of about 5,900 m2, with a total construction cost of more than 14 billion VND in phase I and more than 10 billion VND in phase II. This is an important project to meet the aspirations of the Party Committee, government and people of Luong Son district as well as children from the South who have gathered in the North and are living, studying and working in the locality. At the same time, the project also has great political, cultural and social significance, contributing to educating the revolutionary tradition, the spirit of great solidarity and the strong will to rise of Luong Son district in particular and Hoa Binh province in general.
