Farmers in Van Binh commune harvest summer-autumn rice. |
Recently, the district has had rain, ensuring water for rice irrigation; local farmers regularly visit the fields and fully implement pest control measures as recommended by the authorities, so the rice plants are growing well with few pests; currently, the rice plants are in the growth period from tillering to heading. Particularly for the early summer-autumn rice crop in Van Binh and Van Thang communes, which are in the ripening period, farmers in the communes have harvested 260 hectares, with an average yield of about 60 quintals/ha, and rice is being purchased by traders at a price of about 6,500 VND/kg.
For high-lying rice fields with no proactive irrigation water source, farmers have switched to growing other crops such as watermelon, cantaloupe, pumpkin, peanuts, etc. to increase land use efficiency and increase income.
