Thanks to the companionship and support of the Commune Farmers' Association, many farmers in Quyet Thang Commune (Lac Son) have developed suitable economic models. In the photo: The model of raising free-range chickens in Duong Renh hamlet.
Quyet Thang is a remote commune with many difficulties in Lac Son district. The commune was established on the basis of merging the old communes of Phu Luong, Phuc Tuy and Chi Thien. In recent years, essential infrastructure has been invested synchronously, which is an important foundation for people to boldly apply technical advances in production. Up to now, many economic models suitable for local conditions have been and are showing clear effectiveness, in which the most prominent are raising native chickens, pigs, buffaloes, cows, mountain goats, etc.
The family of Mr. Bui Van Than in Re Vong hamlet is one of the typical examples. Originally a grocery business, Mr. Than boldly developed Phu Luong chili pepper products - a local specialty recognized as OCOP at the provincial level. In addition, he developed breeding cattle and beef cattle. Thanks to the support from the Commune Farmers' Association in terms of loans and technical knowledge, Mr. Than's family's economic model has expanded, bringing in a stable source of income.
Sticking with the profession of raising free-range chickens, Mr. Bui Van Hung in Duong Renh hamlet is also a typical face in the movement of farmers competing in production and good business. Every year, he raises 3 batches of native chickens with a quantity of thousands, the income after deducting expenses reaches several hundred million VND. According to Mr. Hung, it is the training courses organized by the Commune Farmers' Association that have helped his family improve techniques and increase the efficiency of farming.
In the Chi Thien area (old commune), chicken farming developed early, and now the Chi Thien Chicken Breeding and Supply Cooperative has been established - a reputable address providing breeding stock for people inside and outside the commune. This is also one of the typical examples of changes in production thinking thanks to the support of the Association.
Comrade Bui Van Son, Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Quyet Thang Commune, said: In recent times, the Association has proactively coordinated with non-governmental programs and projects to communicate and guide members to convert crops and livestock to suit the soil conditions of each region. Training courses are held regularly, contributing to changing production thinking from small-scale to systematic, planned and commodity-oriented. In particular, the Association has actively reviewed and supported members to access preferential capital sources from the Social Policy Bank and the Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development. Currently, the total outstanding debt under management of the Association is over 50 billion VND.
Along with that, the "Breeding Cows" Project from the Farmers Support Fund of Hoa Binh province with 300 million VND, lent 11 members to buy 14 breeding cows; The Farmers Support Fund of Lac Son district was also effectively implemented, supporting 6 members to borrow 300 million VND to buy 12 breeding buffaloes. The "Kindness Cow Fund" model initiated by the Farmers' Association of Quyet Thang commune has multiplied the herd of cows from a few initial cows to 114 cows through generations. Recently, the Farmers' Association of Quyet Thang commune has established a Club to help each other get rich, gathering exemplary members with effective economic models. Through group activities, members share experiences, link product consumption, support each other to use capital for the right purpose, towards concentrated and sustainable production.
With creative, flexible and practical ways of doing things, the Farmers' Association of Quyet Thang Commune has strongly spread the movement of farmers competing in production and good business. From specific models, many farming households have risen up to escape poverty, become rich legitimately, and actively contribute to the socio-economic development of the locality.
