As a famous couple in the world of Cai Luong, if Meritorious Artist Thanh Kim Hue is known as one of the most famous actresses of the Southern Cai Luong stage, Meritorious Artist Thanh Dien is a multi-talented Cai Luong artist, film actor, and stage director. On the stage of Legendary Impression, both are seen to look much younger than their age.

They knew each other since Thanh Kim Hue was 13, 14 years old, after 6 years of getting to know each other, they became husband and wife in 1975.

Entering the profession from 1964 - 1965, Thanh Kim Hue was given the role of a maid with few lines and then gradually moved up to the fourth, third, and second roles and became the main actress after 4 years of training. In 1969, Thanh Kim Hue was chosen to play the role of Lan in the play Lan and Diep (performed with artist Chi Tam). The attraction and popularity of the role helped Thanh Kim Hue become famous early at the age of 14. The recording of Lan and Diep's Love Story that year also became the most successful recording of all versions of Lan and Diep . In 1973, the female artist signed an exclusive contract with the Vietnam Record Company, recording the first neo-classical version called Yeu Lam with artist Minh Vuong and that year's recording opened the way for a series of Thanh Kim Hue's later best-selling tapes and CDs.
For Meritorious Artist Thanh Dien, although he started out as a cai luong artist, he was more successful in the film industry, through memorable roles such as: teacher Bay in Dat Phuong Nam , Mr. Lam in Nhip dap trai tim, Mr. Trung in Mot ngay khong co em ... The male artist shared: "My roots are cai luong, I love talented people like anh Ut Tra On, I really love them, but I also like acting and watching movies. These two things are mixed in me, and finally when I completed my career with cai luong and the stage, Ms. Tham Thuy Hang saw that I could act in plays, she said, 'You come back and perform for me tomorrow.' But the time has not come yet... Then Ms. Kim Cuong called me to her troupe and she wholeheartedly trained me in drama. From doing plays, I switched to acting in films."

Despite the age difference (artist Thanh Dien was born in 1947, artist Thanh Kim Hue was born in 1955), the harmony in their souls has bound the two people together.

Talking to the audience, both of them talked a lot about their memories of the roles of Quan Huyen Tria and Thi Hen in Ngao So Oc Hen. Meritorious Artist Thanh Dien plays a lustful district official, while Meritorious Artist Thanh Kim Hue is a sharp, somewhat flirtatious girl. This is also the first flirtatious role that Thanh Kim Hue has taken on. The female artist said: “First of all, this play is not a comedy, Uncle Nam Chau (People's Artist Nam Chau) adapted it from a play in Hanoi which is a drama. Through Dien, Thanh Kim Hue and Giang Chau, then when performing, I turned it into a comedy to make it more charming. So, there are some sentences that I added and subtracted. Chau (as Boss So) studied the crying voice, Dien (as Quan Huyen) had some very charming sentences."
Thanh Kim Hue herself initially found this role difficult, because it contrasted with her real life, she is not like that in real life (laughs). But then I thought I had to act it out because this role is really not bad. She is a good person but is harmed. So I had to act it out, both flirtatious and decent. Thanh Kim Hue thought of the right hands and feet like this, then shook her butt, and her voice to show her features. Very flirtatious but very decent.”

Thanh Kim Hue said: "At that time, he pursued me but I really didn't like him, he always carried a guitar and followed me around, which I really hated... But later on, he pursued me more and more and I felt that he was a good person. But honestly, when I was young, Thanh Kim Hue felt that she didn't want to marry an artist because she was afraid. I saw that the older brothers and sisters were too flirtatious, so I was afraid, but when I saw that he was so sincere, I accepted...

Like Thi Hen, Quan Huyen Tria also left a deep impression on Meritorious Artist Thanh Dien: “The memories of Ngao So Oc Hen are probably endless. Because all the actors are connected to each other, from their words and gestures... But I also really love the play Ngao So Oc Hen . Some audiences said: I tell you the truth, Mr. Dien, I hate you terribly, but why do I like you? I like a play that has such satirical criticism.”
"At first, I performed, but I didn't know that the play had such a strong vitality. There were literally thousands of performances, two performances a day, even a whole week. But the more I performed, the more people watched, it was strange," artist Thanh Kim Hue recalled. Meritorious Artist Thanh Dien said: "I was so scared when I performed, but the more crowded it became. Then when it was filmed for television, when it was broadcast, the more viewers watched than at first."
Chatting with the audience and reenacting famous excerpts together, despite her poor health, Thanh Kim Hue still tried her best to play her role and sing the words. With her emotional voice and graceful performance, Thanh Kim Hue reminded the audience of the once-famous Cai Luong with its never-ending passion...
