Designer Vu Thao Giang just brought an emotional fashion night with 6 special collections, performed on a floating stage in the middle of Cau River (Bac Kan) with a catwalk nearly 60m long.
The performance contributed to introducing and promoting intangible cultural heritage associated with local tourism development.
Regional Heritage Through the Lens of Fashion
Inspired by the natural beauty, cultural life and famous landmarks along the Cau River basin, Vu Thao Giang has skillfully conveyed the spirit of heritage through 6 collections, making each design like a vivid cultural fashion picture.
“Every land I have been to, every culture I have discovered , has left me with very deep emotions. I hope that through each ao dai design, the beautiful natural images and cultural treasures inspired by the tangible and intangible culture of the Northeastern provinces will be known, loved and taken pride in by more people. For me, the Vietnamese ao dai is not only a fashion symbol, but also a journey connecting history, tradition and the future,” Vu Thao Giang shared.

With that spirit, the designer's performance recreated the land of Bac Kan through the images of poetic Ba Be Lake, peaceful Pac Ngoi village, mysterious Nang Tien Cave, majestic Puong Cave, majestic Dau Dang Waterfall, rich Ngan Son plum forest, and the image of horses on a peaceful lawn.
Thai Nguyen reappears with the brilliant pink Nui Coc Lake, the green Ghenh Che Lake, the magical Phuong Hoang Cave - Mo Ga Stream, the sacred Linh Son Cave, the lush Tan Cuong tea hills, the ATK Dinh Hoa relic site and the poetic Lang Hin Lake.
Vu Thao Giang "sketches" Bac Ninh and Bac Giang through folk art forms such as quan ho, ca tru, hat xam, hat cheo, and Dong Ho folk paintings.
Hanoi and Hai Duong appear impressively thanks to images associated with Hang Trong folk paintings, the practice of the Mother Goddess worship, and the Then art of the Tay and Nung people.
The designer also did not forget to recreate the unique brocade patterns of the Tay, Nung, Dao ethnic groups...
The art night not only honors intangible cultural heritage, but also opens up opportunities for connection and sustainable tourism development for the Northeast region of Vietnam.

When fashion is a cultural bridge
Not only an ao dai designer, Vu Thao Giang is also an artist who is always concerned about how to turn fashion into a cultural bridge. Over the years, Thao Giang has created many collections promoting the images of lands and cultural heritages through traditional ao dai associated with cultural tourism events in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hue, Lam Dong, Dak Nong, Cao Bang, Lao Cai...
For Thao Giang, each ao dai is a “cultural ambassador,” bringing the historical values, beliefs, nature and people of Vietnam closer to the domestic public and international friends.

This 9X Tay ethnic designer impresses with his perseverance in creating ao dai collections that combine fashion and cultural heritage.
It is worth noting that she persistently pursues her own path, turning traditional values into inspiration for modern creation, contributing to spreading the beauty of Vietnamese identity more widely to the domestic and international communities.
As a result of persistent efforts in combining fashion and heritage to promote the image of local tourism, at the 2022 Work Summary Conference of the Tourism Development Linkage Group between Ho Chi Minh City and 8 Northeastern provinces held in Ba Be Lake area, Ba Be district, Bac Kan province, designer Vu Thao Giang was honored as one of the authors receiving the award for typical tourism product design./.
The fashion night is part of the program "Song Cau - Source of Heritage" directed by the People's Committee of Bac Kan province, gathering the participation of many artisans and artists from Bac Kan, Thai Nguyen, Bac Giang, Bac Ninh, Hai Duong and Hanoi.
