Dao female valedictorian hopes to earn a lot of money in the future

(Dan Tri) - Being admitted to the University of Industry and Trade in Ho Chi Minh City as valedictorian, the Dao girl hopes to earn a lot of money in the future to "support" her parents.

Trieu Thi Mai Trang, a Dao ethnic, from Cao Bang, is the valedictorian of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade this year. She is studying Tourism and Travel Services Management.

Mai Trang recalls that when the school representative called to inform her that she was the valedictorian and was invited to be recognized at the welcoming ceremony for new students at the beginning of the year, she still could not believe it was true. At that time, Mai Trang thought to herself, “There must be a mistake.”

Mai Trang doesn't see herself as outstanding in anything. She just has a name that sounds a bit "uncomfortable", is a bit difficult to pronounce and often arouses curiosity in the other person.

In fact, Trang said that this name came from the accident of a “mistake”. The original name her parents gave her was Trieu Thi Mai Trang. However, when her father went to make her birth certificate, the person who recorded it may have misheard or written it wrong, so they “gave” her an extra stroke, turning Trang into Trang.

"I kept telling the story of the name mistake until I knew it by heart. However, I didn't find it inconvenient, I just felt happy that my name often attracted the attention of many people. I consider the "misspelled name" incident as a fate attached to my life," the valedictorian said with a smile.

For 12 consecutive years, Mai Trang has been an excellent student and has held the position of class monitor. She was a member of the national excellent student team in 2024 and also won second prize in the provincial excellent student competition in history in 2025.

Mai Trang is also a member of the provincial team participating in the national excellent student selection exam in 2024.

Regarding her study secrets, the girl from the highlands modestly said: “My study method is nothing special. In class, I focus on listening to the teacher's lectures, do homework and practice questions every day at home. It's very simple, but if I maintain and have the discipline to repeat it every day, it will become a habit and help me progress and improve my scores.”

For Mai Trang, the most important thing to study well is not intelligence but diligence and perseverance. In her opinion, you may not be good or smart, but you absolutely must not be lazy.

The most stressful period for the Moon is the days of reviewing for the national excellent student exam. This exam is a "bet" for the Moon to see more clearly her own abilities.

At that time, there were times when Trang studied up to 18 hours a day to achieve her goal of going to university.

When asked about her dream, Mai Trang did not hesitate to share: "My biggest dream is that in the future I will earn a lot of money to take care of myself and "support" my parents."

However, Trang also understands that her dream lies in the future. For now, she hopes to demonstrate her full potential and have fun and a fulfilling experience at university.

In her first year, Mai Trang wanted to focus on getting used to city life and the university environment. She planned to work part-time in her second year, perhaps tutoring or working at a coffee shop to both learn skills, gain work experience and earn extra money to cover her tuition.
