Water flows and rocks wears away like a poem hidden in prose form, captivatingly describing the eternal journey of water from its source to the ocean. When water drops come together to form a stream, they create a rhythmic force that can erode even obstacles like rocks.

Despite floods and droughts, the river is still a constant source of life and our society, persistently finding its way to the vast ocean and merging into it every day. “Water values movement” (page 47), which contains a metaphor for human will and hope in an uncertain life of “challenge and gentleness”.

Water wears away stone - as the proverb says - reminding us to be patient, steadfast in "searching, choosing, accepting and persevering" in pursuing our goals in life. David Marquis wrote 13 lyrical and touching short poems, conveying poetic philosophies about human aspirations: "Each ray, each drop - is water at first, and in the end is still water - to exist as a purpose, and to live with
nature".

Like a clear stream flowing through rapids, we also move constantly with the flow of thoughts, with our hearts full of emotions and our feet. We are tolerant with ourselves and life, understanding our smallness, humility and the arrangement of creation in the journey of true freedom. We are healed, learn to “respect each other’s hearts” and keep “the desire for a world much better than the world we have created”.
