Power units are still closely monitoring the flood situation in low-lying areas to restore power.

Due to the impact of heavy rain causing widespread flooding in many localities, power units under the Provincial Electricity Department have proactively cut off power to ensure people's safety.

As of 11:30 a.m. on November 15, power companies had cut off power at 705 transformer stations (accounting for 25.1% of the total number of transformer stations in the area), equivalent to more than 125,000 customers losing power (37.6% of the total number of customers in the province).

The transformer stations that had their power cut off were all in low-lying areas: Dong Ba, Huong So, Gia Hoi, Phu Hau, Kim Long, An Hoa, Tay Loc, Thuan Loc, Thuy Van, Xuan Phu, Vy Da, An Dong, An Cuu, An Tay, Chi Lang, Phu Hiep, Dap Da, Thuy Bieu ( Hue City); Vinh Hien (Phu Loc District); Dong Xuan, Huong Vinh, Tay Toan, La Chu (Huong Tra Town); Kim Doi, My Xa, Phuoc Yen (Quang Dien District); Tay Tri Nhon, Lai The, Phu Thuong (Phu Vang District); La Son, An Son Bon, Thuy Phu (Huong Thuy Electricity Company manages)...

And with heavy rain forecast to continue and water levels to rise, it's likely that more areas will be forced to shut off power.

“With the motto “Safety, especially electrical safety for people and customers is put first and foremost”, the units will approach and check carefully. Only when the water recedes and electrical safety is ensured can the power be turned back on to serve the people”, said the leader of the provincial Electricity Department.

In addition to notes on ensuring electrical safety during storms and floods, the provincial Electricity Department continues to recommend that people take electrical safety measures in their homes during storms and floods: Turn off the power if the indoor area is flooded or the floor is wet from rain or wind; the installation of electrical lines, electrical outlets, and electrical equipment in the home must be higher than the water level that is often flooded or wet; install switching devices with appropriate anti-electric leakage features; cut off the power supply to electrical equipment installed outdoors during heavy rain or strong winds; only turn on the power when all damage and unsafe phenomena are eliminated.
