The water level of the Ho Ho Hydropower Plant reservoir (Huong Khe, Ha Tinh ) is currently lower than the dead water level, forcing the plant to reserve and balance water sources to generate stable electricity during peak hours.
According to records, since the beginning of the year, the amount of rainfall as well as the amount of water flowing into the reservoir of Ho Ho Hydropower Plant has decreased sharply compared to the same period in 2022. In particular, since the end of April, the amount of water in the reservoir of this hydropower plant has only been approximately equal to or slightly higher than the dead water level (the dead water level is 67.50m above sea level).
Since the beginning of the year, the amount of rainfall as well as the amount of water flowing into the reservoir of Ho Ho Hydropower Plant has decreased sharply compared to the same period in 2022.
In recent days, although there has been rain in Ha Tinh, the amount of rain is small and the duration of rain is short, so the amount of water added to the reservoir of Ho Ho Hydropower Plant is very little and has not improved.
Mr. Nguyen Ba Tuan - Deputy Director of Ho Ho Hydropower Plant said: "Currently, the reservoir's elevation is only 64.70 m above sea level (ie 2.80 m lower than the dead water level). In the face of this situation, the plant continues to proactively and flexibly deploy technical solutions; calculate, reserve, and balance water resources to operate during peak hours (daytime from 12:30 - 15:30 and nighttime from 21:00 - 23:00). These are the hours when people's electricity demand is high, the grid capacity is at its peak, so the plant must strive to maintain operations so that the grid operates safely and stably, contributing to ensuring national energy security".
Currently, the elevation of the Ho Ho Hydropower Plant reservoir is only 64.70 m above sea level (ie 2.80 m lower than the dead water level).
It is known that Ho Ho Hydropower Plant has a capacity of 14 MW with 2 generators. In 2023, the plant aims to generate 37 million kWh to the grid. However, according to the synthesis, in the first 6 months of the year, the plant's electricity output only reached more than 11.8 million kWh (2.9 million kWh lower than the same period in 2022).
