Inter Miami co-owner Jorge Mas has told Spanish media about his intention to have a friendly match with Barcelona to help the Catalan team pay tribute to former captain Messi.
The American billionaire expressed his desire for a match at Barca's home stadium: "I have committed to him (Messi) to do everything possible in the coming years, so that he has the opportunity to say goodbye to the fans in Barcelona.
Inter Miami will come to Barcelona or we will have a friendly match. Messi leaving Barcelona is not something he wanted and cannot say goodbye to his team - the place that welcomed him as a child".

Previously, Barcelona President Joan Laporta mentioned holding a tribute to Messi at the end of June this year. He wanted to hold the match at the official opening of Spotify Camp Nou stadium when the renovation is completed. The plan to renovate Barcelona's home stadium is expected to end in the 2025-2026 season.
During the home stadium renovation period, Barcelona currently play at the Lluis Companys Olympic Stadium in Montjuic, Barcelona.

Meanwhile, Messi is having a quiet time in MLS as the Argentine superstar has not been able to play since the 4-0 victory over Toronto on September 21. Meanwhile, Inter Miami is going through a difficult time without Messi, drawing two consecutive MLS matches and missing out on their second title of the year when losing to Houston Dynamo in the US Open final.
Inter Miami coach Gerardo Martino said Messi's problem is that he needs time to recover. In addition, Argentina's team doctors were also present at the team's headquarters in Florida to closely monitor Messi's condition ahead of the FIFA Days gathering in October.
