On the morning of May 13, the K-Star Spark music festival confirmed that G-Dragon will perform at My Dinh Stadium, Hanoi on June 21. This is the first time G-Dragon has returned to Vietnam in 13 years.
The information was just announced and quickly caused a "storm" on social networks, causing the Kpop fan community in general and VIP (BIGBANG's fandom name) in Vietnam to explode. A series of articles related to G-Dragon quickly climbed to the top of the trending list, showing that his popularity has not decreased despite many years of absence.
G-Dragon – real name Kwon Ji Yong, born in 1988, is one of the most influential artists in Kpop history. Debuting with BIGBANG in 2006, he contributed to creating a Korean music empire that spread globally. Immortal hits such as Haru Haru, Fantastic Baby, Bang Bang Bang… have become irreplaceable marks in the memories of millions of fans.
Not only successful with the group, G-Dragon also affirmed his own position as a solo artist. Songs such as Crayon, Crooked, Untitled, 2014, Who You? all achieved impressive results both domestically and internationally. Solo albums One of a Kind, COUP D'ETAT and Kwon Ji Yong set sales records, at the same time bringing G-Dragon's name beyond the limits of a Korean star.
At the end of October 2024, G-Dragon returned to the music scene with his third studio album, Übermensch. Immediately after its release, the title track Too Bad immediately climbed to No. 1 on the four biggest charts in Korea, including Melon, Genie, Bugs, and Vibe. Other songs such as Drama, Home Sweet Home, and Take Me also reached high positions.
Not stopping there, the male artist officially kicked off the Übermensch World Tour with two sold-out shows in Goyang, South Korea. G-Dragon's appeal quickly spread when the Asian leg of the tour immediately created a ticket fever in countries that announced the schedule. Notably, his two most recent shows attracted nearly 100,000 spectators, proving the undeniable "hotness" of the top Kpop star.
