Jurgen Klopp accepted to be head coach of AS Roma?

This is really surprising information, but it is also very welcomed by the football world. Early morning on May 20, a series of prestigious Italian newspapers confirmed that coach Jurgen Klopp had accepted the invitation of AS Roma Club.

Specifically, the Turin-based newspaper La Stampa said that AS Roma sent a delegation to work with coach Klopp last week. And by Sunday evening, the German strategist agreed to the proposal of president Dan Friedkin.

Reputable journalist Dave Ockop also confirmed that the two sides have reached an agreement, and an official announcement will be made soon this week.

The new job brings coach Klopp an income of no less than 10 million USD/year, almost equal to his previous salary at Liverpool, with a workload considered quite light.

A few months ago, Real Madrid offered to hire Jurgen Klopp, but he refused. In recent times, many big clubs have been pursuing the German strategist.

Coach Klopp once shared that he would "never manage another team in England", a way of expressing his affection for Liverpool FC. So it is understandable that Mr. Klopp accepted to lead AS Roma in Serie A.

AS Roma's position also suits Klopp's style. The German strategist is famous for his ability to build and revive teams that are on the decline, bringing them back to glory.

That’s how Klopp has revived Dortmund (since 2008) and Liverpool (since 2015). Both teams were languishing in the middle of the league table when he arrived, only to win the title a few years later.

For AS Roma, the last time they won Serie A was in 2001, and the last time they reached the top 4 of the tournament was in 2018. This season, Roma is playing quite well when they are ranked 5th in Serie A, there is still 1 more round for them to hope to reach the top 4.

The current head coach of AS Roma is also a veteran strategist - Claudio Ranieri. However, at the age of 73, Ranieri is clearly not the ideal choice for the long-term future of the team.

Over the years, AS Roma has invited many famous coaches such as Luis Enrique, Luciano Spalletti, Jose Mourinho... But all of them were only enough to bring the team to success in a short period of time.
