Also present were Mr. Nguyen Khac Dinh, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly; Mr. Phan Van Mai, Chairman of the National Assembly's Economic and Financial Committee.
On the side of Ho Chi Minh City, there were Mr. Nguyen Van Loi, Head of the Delegation of the 15th National Assembly of Ho Chi Minh City; Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; Mr. Vo Van Minh, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council; Mr. Dang Minh Thong, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee.

Four core lessons
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Van Loi, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Ho Chi Minh City, reviewed the glorious 80th anniversary of the first General Election to elect the National Assembly of Vietnam.
He recalled that nearly 80 years ago, on January 5, 1946, President Ho Chi Minh issued a call for the nation to vote. On January 6, 1946, in the sacred historical moment right after gaining independence, the entire Vietnamese people for the first time exercised their right to be masters and elected the National Assembly of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.

Mr. Nguyen Van Loi acknowledged that over nearly 80 years of formation and development, the Vietnamese National Assembly has accompanied the nation through many historical ups and downs. Accordingly, the National Assembly has amended and approved the Constitution 6 times and gradually perfected the political system, affirming its central role in establishing the legal foundation for the country's development.
According to him, the great achievements and valuable traditions in the 80 years of formation and development of the Vietnamese National Assembly will create an important and solid foundation for the 15th National Assembly and subsequent terms to continue to inherit, promote, and better perform the functions, tasks, and powers according to the Constitution and laws.
In which, Mr. Nguyen Van Loi emphasized that there are four core, consistent lessons that are still valuable and contemporary.
That is a lesson about ensuring the comprehensive leadership of the Party; about the strength of the great national unity bloc; about the ideology of respecting the people, being close to the people, listening to the people's opinions, maximizing the people's mastery; and the lesson about constantly innovating, creating, firmly grasping theory, closely following practice, perfecting institutions, and serving the country's development.

Gratitude for the contributions of generations of National Assembly Deputies
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Loi, the 15th National Assembly term took place with many special emotions. When the COVID-19 pandemic broke out, National Assembly deputies both participated in fighting the pandemic and building institutions to fight the pandemic; the National Assembly had to meet both online and in person, while using isolation ropes to ensure the session took place safely under conditions of pandemic prevention and control.
“It is a term of strict discipline for National Assembly deputies who violate the law. It is a term of building and amending laws and resolutions that are suitable for reality and serve the development of the country,” he reiterated.
Overcoming these challenges, Mr. Nguyen Van Loi assessed that the National Assembly Delegation of Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong Province and Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province have made efforts and achieved many valuable results, contributing to the overall success of the National Assembly and the development of each locality as well as the whole country.

On this occasion, Mr. Nguyen Van Loi also expressed gratitude for the contributions of previous generations of National Assembly deputies and predecessors who have worked hard to build the glorious tradition of the Vietnamese National Assembly over the past 80 years.
"It is your dedication, experience and prestige that have contributed to the prestige, strength and position of the Vietnamese National Assembly today," Mr. Loi affirmed.
Mr. Nguyen Van Loi said that 2025 has special significance when the three National Assembly delegations of Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong province and Ba Ria - Vung Tau province are officially merged into one.
According to Mr. Loi, the unified National Assembly Delegation is not only representative of three localities, but also embodies a new stature - a Delegation that is closer to the people, more comprehensive in regional interests, closer to reality, and stronger in national influence.

“This is also an urgent requirement for us to innovate our working methods, improve our representative capacity, improve our methods of contacting voters, and organize policy monitoring and criticism - so that the people's voice not only resonates locally, but is also affirmed in the national parliament and in the international arena,” said Mr. Nguyen Van Loi.
According to him, the achievements of the past term will be valuable assets for the City National Assembly Delegation to continue to move forward on the new journey. The tasks are still heavy, requiring the City National Assembly Delegation to constantly innovate, improve its capacity, be closer to the people, respect the people, listen to the people's opinions more, to respond to the people's expectations and be worthy of the heroic tradition of the National Assembly over the past 80 years.
"It is both a great honor and a heavy responsibility"
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Truong Trong Nghia, a member of the 13th, 14th and 15th National Assembly, said that being elected by the people as a National Assembly member is a great honor, but also a heavy responsibility.

According to him, legislative activities are becoming more urgent in terms of time and increasing in number each day, requiring National Assembly deputies to be closely involved in and understand social reality, the aspirations and concerns of the people, and to learn more new knowledge and skills to understand the content of draft laws and make appropriate and accurate comments to complete the draft before putting it to a vote.
Along with that, the increased application of AI technology also requires National Assembly deputies to not only "eliminate illiteracy" but also master the necessary skills to increase productivity and efficiency in their elected duties.
“During my three terms as a representative, I have clearly realized that the people have high expectations and the country's situation always requires a lot from the National Assembly, and no matter how hard I try, I always feel that I have not met those expectations and requirements,” he said.
In the new period, Deputy Truong Trong Nghia believes that the National Assembly Delegation of the next term will be one of the largest in quantity and strong in quality, contributing together with the Party Committee and the City Government to complete the set tasks and goals.
