(Dan Tri) - Republican candidate Donald Trump said that if he is elected president next month, he will create a new ministerial position to appoint billionaire Elon Musk.

Donald Trump said he would appoint tech mogul Elon Musk to a new White House position called "secretary of cost reduction" if the former president wins the November election. "He's a great businessman and a great cost-cutter. And he says he can cut costs without hurting anybody," Trump said. Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, said that while Musk did not want to join the cabinet, he wanted to focus on cutting costs. "We're going to have a new position: Secretary of Cost Reduction. Elon wants to do it, and we have great people. He's running a great business," Trump said. The former president also talked about Musk's space ambitions and his promise to send Americans to Mars. Musk runs SpaceX, and Trump established the Space Force during his first term. "He has promised me that he will put humans on Mars before the end of my term, hopefully much sooner than China or Russia," Trump said, referring to the hypothetical election on November 5. In recent months, billionaire Musk has repeatedly expressed his desire to lead a government commission in a potential Trump administration. The former US president then suggested that billionaire Musk could serve as an adviser in his administration if he wins the November election. Late last month, Mr. Musk said that the 2024 election would be "the last election in America" if Mr. Trump did not win. "Very few Americans realize that if Mr. Trump is not elected, this will be the last election. He is not a threat to democracy, but the only way to save it!", billionaire Elon Musk commented on the social network X on September 28.
