Lesson 1: Touch technology - inspire creativity
Each STEM room is not only a place to study, but also a “creative workshop” to nurture future human resources. The classrooms help the education sector gradually move towards a borderless classroom model - where students can connect, exchange, and study with international friends.
Businesses “bring technology into the classroom”
The Party Committee of the Vietnam National Industry and Energy Group ( Petrovietnam ) issued a plan to deploy the STEM education practice room system nationwide. Accordingly, each province and city will be invested with 3 STEM practice rooms, with priority given to difficult areas and border areas.
Up to now, Petrovietnam has completed nearly 20 STEM classrooms and completed the survey, assessment and construction plan for the remaining STEM rooms. Petrovietnam is actively coordinating with relevant units to quickly complete the procedures according to regulations to select equipment suppliers and install to ensure the goal of building 100 international standard STEM practice rooms in 100 days, completed before December 31, 2025.
The goal of the program is to equip Petrovietnam STEM rooms with international standards, serving STEM/STEAM practical experience activities for teachers and students with modern technology equipment such as: AI, IoT, Robotics, digital transformation. Organize innovative STEM educational activities, scientific and technological research; build a STEM ecosystem to promote career guidance, start-ups, and career experiences in the direction of 4.0 technology.

In addition, the program combines organizing training sessions, sharing experiences, promoting scientific research in education and science and technology for teachers inside and outside the school; connecting and linking domestic and international STEM departments (first of all with Singapore), with research departments in domestic universities and research institutes on training gifted and talented students.
At the inauguration ceremony of the Stem classroom in Ninh Binh at the end of September 2025, Mr. Le Manh Hung - Party Secretary, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Petrovietnam said that the Petrovietnam STEM Innovation Program is an initiative to contribute to spreading the STEM practical education room model to many localities across the country.
“The STEM practical education room at Ly Tu Trong High School not only supports students in accessing modern science and technology knowledge, but also opens up opportunities to practice practical skills, arousing passion for research and creativity. This will be an important foundation for training high-quality human resources, contributing to the development of Ninh Binh province in particular and the country in general,” said Mr. Hung.
“Borderless Classroom”
Tran Khanh Chi, a student of class 11A2 at Ly Tu Trong High School (Ninh Binh), shared that in the past, in each Physics or Technology class, she could only observe illustrations on the board or in textbooks. Sometimes, Chi and her friends had to imagine how an electric circuit worked or the mechanism of a robotic arm. Now, thanks to the STEM education practice room, everything has become more realistic and vivid.
“We can design, assemble and see our products in action. When the model operates successfully, we feel happy. I hope the STEM lab model will be expanded to many other regions, especially areas lacking in facilities, so that many people can have the experience,” Chi shared.

Ms. Doan Thi Thanh Huong, Principal of Tay Mo Secondary School (Hanoi), assessed that Stem classrooms are a step to help shift from traditional classrooms to “borderless classrooms”. Stem classrooms create conditions for students to connect and learn internationally, broaden their horizons and build skills and capacities to become global citizens.
“With the construction and use of modern STEM labs, the education sector is gradually moving towards a borderless classroom model, where students can connect, exchange and study with international friends. This opens up opportunities for them to become global students, confidently integrate and affirm Vietnam's position in human knowledge. It can be said that STEM is an important interdisciplinary field, a testament to the innovative thinking, long-term vision and determination to integrate of Hanoi in particular and the country's education sector in general,” said Ms. Huong.
Dr. Duong Tuan Hung, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, said that the campaign “100 STEM rooms in 100 days” shows a strong message about the pioneering role of state-owned enterprises in innovation and human development: “Petrovietnam clearly implements goals, plans, supervision, and especially focuses on the human factor. This is a responsible and long-term investment mindset, in line with the spirit of ‘National enterprise – for the national interest’.
According to independent STEM expert Do Hoang Son, Petrovietnam's initiative to create 100 STEM rooms nationwide not only has social significance but also demonstrates a long-term strategy to prepare future human resources for the country.
“These will be 100 knowledge dissemination centers, where students can experience everything from basic to advanced STEM, innovation and creativity; and at the same time, they will be an 'incubator' to train core teachers, creating a ripple effect to tens of thousands of schools,” Mr. Son emphasized.
