STEM Innovation Petrovietnam: Accompanying the future of Vietnamese knowledge

Originating from the idea of General Secretary To Lam, the Vietnam National Industry and Energy Group (Petrovietnam) has developed the initiative "STEM Innovation Petrovietnam", which is operating in many schools nationwide.

With the goal of building 100 international standard STEM classrooms in 34 provinces and cities, the program has become the largest-scale educational project ever in the State-owned enterprise sector, marking a strategic step in developing science and technology human resources to serve the country's future.

STEM ecosystem with "knowledge creation" mindset

The program is designed to concretize the Politburo 's resolutions on innovation in education and training. Not only focusing on infrastructure investment, STEM Innovation Petrovietnam aims to build an open, modern, interconnected and widespread educational ecosystem.

All classrooms are equipped according to international standards, serving STEM/STEAM practice and experience with modern equipment such as AI, IoT, Robotics, digital technology and advanced simulation software. In parallel, there is a system of teacher training, scientific and technological research, career orientation and start-up support according to the 4.0 education model.

Petrovietnam has completed 11 STEM rooms, and completed the survey and construction plan for the remaining 89 rooms. The goal is to complete 100 rooms in 100 days, before December 31, 2025.

The biggest difference of this model lies in the investment mindset: from "educational infrastructure" to "knowledge infrastructure" - where teachers and students have an internationally connected learning environment, first with Singapore, while also accessing the world's advanced curriculum, methods and knowledge.

"This is an investment in the nation's future"

Petrovietnam's STEM Innovation classroom model is highly appreciated by many experts and political representatives as a new, strong step forward for the nation's future.

According to independent STEM expert Do Hoang Son, 100 STEM classrooms are not only a social project but also a long-term human resource development strategy. "These will be 100 knowledge dissemination centers nationwide - where students can experience STEM from basic to advanced, and teachers are trained to become the core force," he said.

From a macro perspective, Dr. Duong Tuan Hung (Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology) said that the campaign "100 STEM rooms in 100 days" clearly demonstrates the pioneering role of state-owned enterprises in innovation.

National Assembly delegate Nguyen Thi Ha (Bac Ninh) commented: "When businesses give the young generation creative tools, it means they are investing in the country's economic future."

Delegate Nguyen Duy Thanh (Ca Mau) called the program an "investment in intellectual energy" - where today's generations of students will become engineers and scientists who master national technology in the future.

Currently, the model has been deployed in many educational institutions across the country.

In Hanoi, students of Cau Giay Secondary School were excited to have their first access to programming robots, scientific simulations and interactive experiments.

In Nghe An, students at Kim Lien High School shared the feeling of "touching science instead of just learning from books". Schools also noted a change in teaching methods: from imparting knowledge to integrated learning, projects, practice and creativity.

Or recently, Dien Bien - one of the provinces invested in the program, STEM has opened new doors for students in the highlands. Many schools have proactively rearranged their facilities to receive STEM rooms.

Representative of Dien Bien Department of Education and Training, Mr. Dang Viet Cuong said: "Teachers have been trained in STEM methods, but due to lack of equipment, they have not been able to implement them effectively. Petrovietnam's support for synchronous facilities is an important boost."

Muong Nhe Ethnic Minority Boarding High School considers the project a historic milestone when for the first time students in remote areas have access to an advanced educational model. STEM helps to shorten the technology gap between students in mountainous areas and urban students. This is an opportunity to change educational thinking.

Journey of sowing "seeds of knowledge"

During the implementation process, Petrovietnam continuously coordinated with experts, localities and schools to ensure progress, equipment quality, training and operation.

Each STEM room is formed as a seed of knowledge sown in the community, gradually creating a nationwide knowledge connection network.

"STEM Innovation Petrovietnam" is expected to not only change the learning environment but also create Vietnamese science and technology human resources in the digital age.

In the laughter of students, the expectant eyes of teachers and the determination of the implementation team, one can clearly feel a belief: today's STEM seeds will become global citizens, masters of future knowledge.

The program is not just an educational project - but a journey to build Vietnamese knowledge with aspiration, responsibility and long-term vision.
