As usual, at the end of the year, the global scientific community "schedules early" to participate in VinFuture Science and Technology Week. In 2025, with the message "Together we grow, together we prosper", VinFuture's seminars continue to expand the depth of knowledge with topics that determine the future of humanity, such as biomedicine, agriculture , robotics technology and smart automation, environment and artificial intelligence (AI).
As an expert in the field of renewable energy, Prof. Aldo Steinfeld (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology - ETH Zurich), who is also one of the nominating partners who has made important contributions to the VinFuture Prize, believes that the theme of this year's VinFuture Discussion "Science and Innovation for a Sustainable Future" is of urgent significance, accurately reflecting global challenges.
“The topic of the discussion was chosen at the right time, when the world is facing intertwined challenges of environment, energy and sustainable development. By promoting international scientific dialogue, VinFuture shows that research cooperation is the key to shaping a more sustainable future,” said the expert, who was also a speaker at the discussion.
According to him, it is the multidisciplinary dialogues and international cooperation that VinFuture promotes that will play an important role in transforming knowledge into sustainable solutions, helping science truly serve humanity. He also expressed his hope to meet and exchange directly with the young research community in Vietnam, which he said is extremely dynamic and promising.
Coming from the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research (Germany), Prof. Kurt Kremer, speaker of the “Robots and Intelligent Automation” panel discussion, also looks forward to the opportunity to participate in the discussion sessions of the VinFuture 2025 Science and Technology Week, where scientists from many fields can meet, exchange and expand their interdisciplinary perspectives.
“The VinFuture Science and Technology Week brings together outstanding experts from many different fields, different from normal scientific conferences. This is a rare opportunity for scientists to exchange ideas and research topics,” he said.
He believes that in the context of artificial intelligence (AI) and automation reshaping every aspect of life, high-level academic forums like VinFuture are becoming increasingly necessary - not only to share knowledge, but also to jointly orient technological development towards safety, responsibility and humanity.
Spreading the spirit of innovation for humanity
From the perspective of a biology and agriculture expert, Dr. Nadia Radzman (University of Cambridge, UK), who is also a nominating partner for the VinFuture Prize, sees this year's VinFuture panel discussion on "Innovation in Agriculture and Food" as drawing the world's attention to highly practical and sustainable innovations that have the potential to have a significant impact on human livelihoods, especially in developing countries.
“I think this theme is particularly meaningful in highlighting the innovations that we need to focus on – innovations that can have a strong impact on people’s lives, especially in developing countries. It is time for the world to turn its attention to the types of innovations that can be developed and deployed with limited resources, but still bring practical benefits to the community,” said Dr. Nadia Radzman.
According to her, the exchanges at VinFuture shape a more equitable innovation mindset, where solutions do not only come from large technology centers, but are also encouraged to develop in areas with fewer resources - where science is needed most.
Meanwhile, Professor Edson Prestes (Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil) is expected to share his perspective on the role of ethics and safety in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) - the foundation for developments in this field to always aim towards human values and serve the common interests of humanity.
As a member of the United Nations Secretary-General's High-Level Group on Digital Cooperation, the UNESCO Expert Group on Ethics in AI, the Global Future Council on AI and the G20 Working Group on the Digital Agenda of the World Economic Forum, Mr. Prestes appreciated the theme of the panel discussion, which is in line with the values he pursues.
“My ideal is to contribute to humanity, with the desire to contribute to improving the quality of life for the disadvantaged around the world. Therefore, my speech will emphasize that we must act for the benefit of those who have no voice in society. And connecting with people who share that vision will be a truly wonderful experience,” said Prof. Prestes.
Multi-dimensional sharing from international scientists shows that VinFuture is continuing to affirm its role as a platform connecting multi-disciplinary knowledge and promoting sustainable innovation for humanity.
