With a big 6-0 win over U17 Singapore, U17 Vietnam had a favorable start in the 2026 U17 Asian qualifiers. Evaluating the match, coach Cristiano Roland said: “I am satisfied with the result as well as the performance of the team. We achieved the target of 3 points in the opening match, and the important thing is that U17 Vietnam entered the game in a good state, maintaining that state for 90 minutes. I think that is very important for young players. They did well, but need to continue looking forward to the next match.
Today, the first thing I thought was that the young players would have some mistakes, but that's normal. Of course we are prepared for such situations, and the team must learn from them. U17 Vietnam deserved 3 points. We feel much more confident after this match."

Not only did he highly appreciate the players' expertise, coach Cristiano Roland also praised the team's team spirit and solidarity.
“For me, solidarity, teamwork and national spirit are always put first. When the players sing the national anthem, they understand best how they have to fight for the fans. I always encourage the players to fight with the greatest motivation when entering the field, even when celebrating a goal together, they must show culture, unity and create strength for the team,” the captain of U17 Vietnam emphasized.
Regarding the preparation for the next matches of the tournament, coach Cristiano Roland said: “The intensity of playing 5 matches in 10 days is really a worry, but U17 Vietnam is prepared and always ready. I told the team that this match the main player will be in the starting lineup but the next match can change.”

On the other side of the battle line, coach Ashraf Ariffin of U17 Singapore admitted that U17 Vietnam is very strong, he said: “We conceded an early goal so we were at a disadvantage in terms of the game. However, this is part of the development. The players learn a lot after matches like this. U17 Vietnam is a very strong team, the players play well together and are familiar with the field. Losing this match, U17 Singapore must do even better in the next matches.”
