VHO - While offering incense at the Truong Thai tomb relic - the resting place of Lord Nguyen Phuc Khoat, descendants of the Nguyen Phuc Clan Council discovered that the area at the head of the tomb had been dug up.
According to the reporter's records on January 6, inside the tomb of Lord Nguyen Phuc Khoat, there were traces of concrete being chiseled and a large hole, about 50cm x 60cm in area, was dug. This hole was temporarily filled with soil and rocks.
This pit is located right above the tomb of King Vo Vuong Nguyen Phuc Khoat, Truong Thai tomb relic (in Long Ho ward, Phu Xuan district, Hue city).
Present at the scene, Mr. Dinh Van Nhan - security guard of Gia Long Tomb Protection Team (Protection Management Department, Hue Monuments Conservation Center) said: Truong Thai Tomb relic is under the responsibility of Gia Long Tomb Protection Team. Every day, in addition to the main task at Gia Long Tomb, security guards are assigned to patrol the Nguyen Lords' tombs to ensure safety.
Speaking to reporters, Mr. Ton That Vinh (65 years old), Truongr he 9 of Nguyen Phuc clan, said: At around 9:00 a.m. on January 5, I and some people went to offer incense at Truong Thai mausoleum and discovered an area that had been dug up. Initially, this area was filled in and then dry leaves were spread on top to "camouflage" so people did not notice.
Later, a security guard saw dry leaves and swept them away, discovering the hole. In addition, the bad guys also dumped some dirt and rocks on the wall behind the mausoleum.
"As soon as we discovered it, we reported it to the Nguyen Phuc Clan Board of Trustees and the relic management unit to quickly take action, because Truong Thai tomb is a relic," said Mr. Ton That Vinh.
Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Buu Nam, Chairman of the Nguyen Phuc Clan Board of Trustees, informed that the incident had been reported to the Hue Monuments Conservation Center, the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and relevant authorities.
Speaking with Van Hoa Newspaper, Mr. Vo Le Nhat - Secretary of Phu Xuan District Party Committee said that he had received information about the incident and is currently directing local authorities and police to monitor and investigate.
Mr. Ton That Vinh said: In the immediate future, we hope and request the Hue Monuments Conservation Center to pay attention and soon have a solution to make the resting place of Lord Nguyen Phuc Khoat solemn. Or maybe allow the descendants of Nguyen Phuoc Toc to repair the area that was stolen and damaged as mentioned above.
Truong Thai Tomb is the resting place of Lord Nguyen Phuc Khoat (1714 - 1765), the 8th of the 9 Nguyen Lords. He is also considered the "ancestor" of Vietnamese Ao Dai. In recent years, the Hue cultural sector has often organized pilgrimages to pay tribute to Lord Nguyen Phuc Khoat in events honoring Ao Dai.
