On the afternoon of May 14, Mr. Nguyen Duc Chau - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Dien Yen Commune, Dien Chau District, said that on May 13, the commune police force, while patrolling, discovered a subject transporting many dead pigs on a handcart. Immediately after that, the Commune People's Committee and specialized agencies made a record and destroyed all 5 dead pigs mentioned above according to the procedure, with a total weight of 125 kg.
According to Mr. Chau, the man transporting the dead pig is named H., a citizen of Dien Hong commune, Dien Chau district. Through questioning, Mr. H. said that he transported the dead pig to feed the fish.
Currently, the People's Committee of Dien Yen commune is continuing to investigate where Mr. H. transported the pigs from and prepare a record, and handle administrative fines according to the provisions of the Veterinary Law.
Meanwhile, when contacting Mr. Tran Hoai An - Director of Dien Chau District Agricultural Service Center, up to this point, this unit has not received any information about the subject transporting dead pigs in Dien Yen commune, so the District Agricultural Service Center has not taken samples to test the above dead pigs.
Recently, African swine fever has recurred in many localities, including many communes of Dien Chau district. Currently, in the district, there is one commune, Dien Hoa, where African swine fever is still occurring. Therefore, people need to be aware of disease prevention for livestock; Local authorities and specialized agencies also need to strengthen inspection and strictly handle those transporting pigs and pork products of unknown origin, in order to protect local pigs from being infected with the disease./.
