Discovery of extremely rare Fansipan spruce population
The Fansipan spruce population – an extremely precious endemic plant species – has just been discovered in Bat Xat, opening up opportunities for research and conservation of the Northwest mountainous forests.

The Fansipan spruce population was discovered in sub-area 120, Muong Hum commune (former Bat Xat district), located at an altitude of about 2,800 meters, in an old forest with an area of about 100 hectares. The tree density here is very high, with many ancient trees hundreds of years old, 20 to 40 meters high, some trees up to 1 meter in diameter, next to young trees that are growing.
