On the morning of June 23, Huong Khe District Forest Protection Department coordinated with Vu Quang National Park to receive a rare turtle handed over by a local resident.


Earlier, on the morning of June 22, Ms. Vo Thi Hong Trang - owner of a coffee shop in Huong Khe town, opened the gate and discovered a yellow turtle weighing nearly 0.2 kg in her yard.
Later, Ms. Trang went online to find out that this is a turtle species belonging to group 2B, listed in the IUCN Red Book 2012 and in need of urgent protection, so she contacted the authorities to hand it over.

On the morning of June 23, Huong Khe District Forest Protection Department coordinated with Vu Quang National Park to receive the turtle handed over by Ms. Trang to care for and release it back into the natural environment.
According to the forest rangers, this individual turtle, commonly known as the Sa Nhan turtle, with the scientific name Cuora Mouhotii, is an extremely rare terrestrial turtle species, belonging to the Emydidae family and Testudinata order, found in many areas such as China, India, Laos and Vietnam.
