According to annual tradition, on the morning of October 8 (ie August 17 of the lunar calendar), at the national architectural and artistic relic of Tu Luong Communal House, Tien Thanh Ward ( Lam Dong Province), many local people and neighboring areas attended the Autumn Offering Ceremony.
This is a traditional ceremony, creating a unique beauty of coastal people.
From early morning, the elders representing the villagers came to the communal house and performed traditional rituals. Before the God worshiping ceremony, there was a ceremony to worship the ancestors and descendants. The ceremony to worship those who had contributed to the reclamation and foundation of the Tu Luong land in the past, now Tien Thanh ward. The worshiping rituals were also conducted solemnly.
Mr. Do Huu Tam, Head of the Tu Luong Communal House Ritual Committee, said: "Every year, the Thu Sacrifice Ceremony is maintained by the communal house with the meaning of praying for national peace, people's safety, favorable weather and wind; thanking the ancestors and gods who have blessed the local people with peace and prosperity for a year."
After more than 200 years, Tu Luong communal house is still an indispensable center of spiritual and cultural activities for the coastal community here. Every year, the relic site holds two main festivals: Spring and Autumn (February and August of the lunar calendar), along with folk cultural activities. This is an opportunity for people to express their faith in a prosperous and peaceful life; the community exchanges and connects friendship.
Ms. Phan Thi Mai, a resident of Tien Thanh ward, shared: “I am a villager so I always remember the kindness of my predecessors. Every year I attend the Autumn Festival to express my gratitude. The festival is also an occasion for everyone in the village to gather and strengthen the relationship between the villagers."
According to historical records, Tu Luong Communal House was named after the former Tu Luong village. The communal house was built in the early 19th century and completely restored in the 24th year of King Tu Duc (1871) to worship the local tutelary god, the ancestors and descendants who had great contributions in the early days of reclaiming land, establishing the village and building the communal house.
Tu Luong Communal House was protected by the Nguyen Dynasty kings, considered a cultural institution of the village community, closely associated with the spiritual life and beliefs of the people.
Currently, the communal house still preserves many ancient relics associated with the process of establishing the village, especially precious Han-Nom heritages, including 10 royal decrees bestowed by the Nguyen Dynasty kings and village regulations carved on wood. The communal house was ranked as a National Architectural and Artistic Monument in 2001./.
